What is Norfolk like?

What's the funniest thing you've ever come across in Norfolk (UK)?

  • This is not an attempt to offend people in Norfolk; I'm saying this before people from Norfolk start getting all defensive. I want to know what the funniest thing anybody has ever experienced in Norfolk is. I've had some quite unusual experiences there; I actually quite like it :P.

  • Answer:

Anita's right; the Broads are HILARIOUS!! I suppose the hillbilly who rides the unicycle ice cream selling thing on the Norfolk Broads Swamp. That's amusing... The Hillbillies are the funniest people; though what amused me most was a guy walking around in really old fashioned clothing and shouting scripture quotes at random people.

Went to Norfolk last week - love it for holidays! In one place I came across Norfolk Shortbread? - Really?!?!? It was a rock cake that had risen too much in the oven so they just stuck Norfolk in the front and sold it as a local delicacy! The funniest thing I think though was going to the North Norfolk Shire Horse Centre when I was little (RIP) guy with a ferret down his trousers, while trying to give a talk on a rare breed chicken he was holding, which laid an egg - egg everywhere! Give me some time and I'll think of some better things!

My family is from Norfolk. But I still find the phrases funny. Like queer means unwell, bishy barnaby-ladybird. :) and there were pirates at the station.
