Sending a parcel to England?

• I want to send a small parcel containing a letter and a book to a friend of mine in England. It shouldn't weigh more than a pound or so. How much would it cost to send a package from NJ or any of the surrounding states in the US to London, England? I've looked at a few sites and they all say it would cost quite a bit of money, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a safe, cheap way to send it that will get it there in a timely manner.

  I would suggest you have a look at this site: http://www.usps.com/international/sendpackages.htm Air mail is faster but more expensive than surface mail. Remember to fill in a customs form stating what's in the package and that it is a present.
