How is a Motorcycle Jacket made?

Trying to locate/remember UK company that made a recycled blanket jacket years ago,?

  • Around 1994 or so my mom went to England to visit family in Manchester. She brought back this amazing recycled jacket for me (but I forget where she got it) . It was a funky electric yellow hued wool jacket (with other colors flecked in there) made entirely out of an old recycled english wool blanket. I LOVED that jacket! it was soo warm and funky! Alas when I went to college (in Seattle), I made the sad misfortune of letting a friend borrow the jacket and it was gone (nice "friend", claimed they left it in a club. but I could never locate it.) I've tried google searches... but cant seem to find anything to replace it or any info on my search for the company. Sadly, it was so unique, i've NEVER seen anything close to it in design or appearance, it was so awesome. I assume it was made by someone who didn't have a large scale company (sort of pre-etsy) but I'm throwing this out there... in case someone, somewhere also bought a jacket, and knows what the heck I'm talking about! Surely its a small world and the person who has that knowledge is floating around somewhere! :)

  • Answer:

Afflecks Palace in Central Manchester is like a massive indoor market, it started in the early 70s and ages go their. They sell clothes from particular eras and is very popular. We often go their and see different things. Another place to look at is oi polloi of manchester, they tend to do mens clothing but do recycle jackets.. I dont live far from manchester so if you question your mum was it in the town centre or which part of manchester, i will gladly help you in your quest.. their is a lot of places doing this sort of thing at moment.. email me on [email protected] and lets see if i can help you karen x

i bet she got it from a place called Afflecks palace, its in Manchester city centre and its a big building with like loads of small shops (not big brands, small scale things) in it that sell all sorts of things including clothes and it sounds like something they would sell.
