Answer:
manchester is a great place and nowhere near as expensive as london or dublin. leeds (where im studying) is also good, as is liverpool (where im from) and sheffield and newcastle. you should be fine on a student budget in manchester, good luck.

Manchester is nowhere near as expensive as London. Put it this way, Manchester Uni has more students than any other single uni in the country, more students apply to Man Uni than any other uni, and Manchester has the highest concentration of students in western Europe. If all those students can get by, I'm sure you'll manage just fine =)

Manchester is a "Tale of two cities" there are a minority of super rich , and a lot of poverty as well somewhere imbetween is a massive student population so all budgets are catered for so you can pay £1 or £10 for a drink depending where you choose to go. Many of the major stores do student discount , A meal out for £10 in a curry house is easy to find, Cinemas and theatres do student discount and the university has all your usual facilities, bars, eateries and staff who are paid to help with accommodation, welfare etc. So you could do a lot worse, one word of advice, the local criminals look forward to freshers week to relieve careless students of their posessions and money but so long as you don't behave stupidly like leaving your front door unlocked when you go out no harm should come to you

Manchester is an affordable place to live in it is a lot cheaper clothes food wise , bills and the people there are very helpful and friendly I was born there I now live in London which is a very expensive place to live, I often go back and visit and buy things and bring them back to London. So do my children who were born in London. good luck.

I reside in the student area of Manchester and it's a lot cheaper than Dublin (where I was a student) and having visited London recently - it's a lot cheaper than living there too!

Manchester is a dirty decaying mill town where people live mainly in the gutter - avoid the place at all cost.
