Is there such thing as a monthly pass for the London underground?

Planning a trip to London, England, travel pass?

  • I heard the best thing to get for traveling to england is the London Pass + Travel. This is for 6 days of activity and 7 days travel. I plan on going for at least 10 days. Is there any pass that goes for 10 days? Or suggestions for saving money on travel after the 7th day? Thanks!

I just looked up the London Pass + Travel. £127 for 6 days sounds not bad - and if time (in researching it all) is worth more than money to you, go for it. If you can actually fit in a lot of the attractions it gives admission for during your stay it'll be well worth it. London is a big place and even 14 days might not be enough to explore properly - it's up to what you like and what you want to do. What you actually get with the Travel bit is Zones 1-6 which you probably don't actually need, as outside of Zone 2 it's basically just suburbs. A Zone 1-2 Travelcard for a week is £25.80 http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/17373.aspx . I see one of the attractions included is Windsor Castle. That's not in London - Windsor is a few miles outside and travel all the way there probably isn't included. To get there, go to London Paddington station, take a train to Slough, go to platform 1 there and take the shuttle train to Windsor & Eton Central. Exit the station and you can't miss the castle. Windsor is a nice little town. Show your Travelcard when you buy a ticket at Paddington and make sure they sell you one just from the edge of Zone 6 to Windsor. If you come for 10 days, I'd recommend just buying daily Travelcards for the remaining 2 or 3 days for the Zones you want. An Oystercard is more an electronic container for tickets than anything - you can put a Travelcard for a week or more on it or just cash for "pay as you go" or even both. On "pay as you go", what you pay is capped at the price of a 1 day Travelcard and if you do more journeys all the rest are free. Your bible on anything to do with public transport in London is http://www.tfl.gov.uk/ and the Journey Planner might be a real help. I use it all the time.

The London Pass is Only a good deal If you plan on visiting Most of the Attractions listed on the card and it is Only good in London- not the rest of the UK In London you can buy Travel Cards that will get you access to the Buses/Underground/and some Train service in London http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14416.aspx

Oyster card is the best if you have time to set it up . It will look at all your journeys and automatically apply the cheapest price plans before billing you at month end (after your trip)
