How much money for a trip to London ?
-
Hi, I'm gonna go on a trip to London this summer and I want to know how much money do I need for food. I have breakfast in a hotel, everything else I will have to by myself. I also wanna know which shops are worthy to visit on the Oxford Street. Is London expensive?? Are people hard to understand? I speak only American English, will I have problems with that? Thanks for the answers!

Answer:
I live in London. It costs roughly 7 pounds a day for a london travelcard so that you can get on the underground and buses to go to various sites around london. Food is fairly expensive, But if you have a look around and go down little streets and into cafes you can find stuff relitavely cheap. Perhaps 20-25 pounds a day for food. not including alcohol Selfridges on Oxford street and Topshop are great to have a nosey around. Also have a look around Carnaby Street the famous 60's street just off oxford street. Other great places to shop are Spitalfields market and shoreditch and camden. enjoy

London is an expensive city, but the amount of money you need for food will depend on how long you stay and how you eat. If you're staying at a hotel, you will have to get all of your meals out, which can definitely add up. I think you'll be fine as far as understanding people, the accent might be a little difficult to understand at first as well as the slang, but you should be able to communicate with everyone just fine! Enjoy your trip!!

If you know your flight and hotel expenses have been paid, then plan on paying 1 1/2 times what you would pay in the US. Soft drinks are terribly expensive. Expect to pay US$4-7 for a bottle of American soft drink. I would think that a sandwich and iced tea would run about $12-15 USD accounting for the exchange rate. My advice, just spend it. You're there for the experience. There's a kind of deli/department store called Marks & Spencer. So there you can buy a bra and a sandwich! Go for it! (Its nickname is Marks and Sparks) Get some real fish and chips, too. And their tea. They sprinkle vinegar on the fish and chips. So I did, too. It was good. I had the fish and chips at the Sea Shell in London. It's a very ordinary, and well known place.

Food is subjective - you can eat relatively cheaply, or very expensively. I'd allow at last £30 a day for food, especially if you are going to eat in restaurants. Oxford Street (and London in General) has a great deal of shopping. WHich is all quite expensive. People are easy to understand. YOu still speak ENglish.

Hi, I don't live in London but in Bristol, SW England but I do know that prices are quite expensive. American English ): is fine but of course there are very many foreigners in London so lots of people don't talk English at all. Anyway I hope you enjoy your visit and that the sun shines for you.
