Which job pays better in London England?
-
I am a 17 year old soon to be 18 year old guy living in London England and I am coming close to finishing my A levels so I have a very long summer holiday ahead. I want to get a job to earn some lolly for uni next year and there are 3 main jobs that I would be able to do and I am wondering which pays the best? Other factors will help me make the decision such as flexible hours etc. but I would like to know the rough salaries to help make an informed decision. The three jobs are a health care assistant (aka carer which I am already trained as so would not have to pay for training), a waiter in a cafe etc. (I am not trained in that but I am not sure you require training) or a job in a supermarket (ditto waiter for training). Please help =)?

I would say that carer will be a higher hourly wage, but when my girlfriend was a carer they were very strict for what you could put down as the hours you've worked, so if you were with a client you would only be paid for the time you were with them, not travelling time. (You may have more experience in this than me if you're already trained). I think with the cafe you'll be in a more social environment so will probably enjoy it more, as I worked as a waiter/chef in one for years and loved it. The supermarket would probably be best for working more hours and getting over time. So, not really answered the question, but it depends on how desperate you are for cash, or if you want to enjoy your summer as well as earn on it. Hope that helps!

Being a carer is hard work, and the hours are often long. Personally, I'd go with the waiter or supermarket job instead. Chances are, they'll both pay minimum wage, but as a waiter you may get tips too.

If you have a job as a career it will look good when you apply for jobs later in life. But if you want quick money then go for cafe as you will get paid and get tips if you are good.

The Health Care Assistant would be a good one, as you're already trained for the job, so you'll be earning your own wages straight away.
