Is London a good place to live, study and work?

  • My spouse and me plan to move to London(UK) next year. My spouse will study for PHD in one of london's universities and I will work (I am a programmer - Oracle Apps Dba). Is it a good place to live, study and work? Where is a good and safe place to live in London? Is it so expensive to live in London like people say? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, yes it is very expensive, I just went this past weekend, and I saw 3 bedroom apartments renting for $10,000 dollars per week. I found out that people live in nearby villages, where living expenses is less expensive, but then you would have to take a 1 hour train to London every day. Besides, pressure from work is an issue, I heard about this lawyer from Cambridge that committed suicide he threw himself from the 7th floor of a museum, after having 16 hr, per day shifts. He made $120,000 dollars a year. so you choose!!!

Too expensive, not safe anywhere, too many drunken, drugged and homeless people everywhere, terrible health care system-literally falling apart also public transport falling apart, low quality of life due to many struggling too hard and depressing weather. It is now a city where only the rich (and I mean the very rich) can insulate themselves from the realities and talk about what a great place it is. Celebrity and trivia obsessed. Similar to 19th century. I am really sorry I know this is not what you want to hear (but it's the truth) but if it is not too late, would recommend someplace like Canada.
