Planning a future trip to London?
-
So, not any time soon, but my friend and I are planning a trip to London. I'm 17, she's 18, and we both have jobs. (Though I won't start officially until Wednesday.) We'd need money for the plane ticket, a rental car, and a hotel(possibly multiple hotels, since we also plan to drive to Scotland, and explore other parts of England.) Not sure for how long, obviously a while, but we need to work out how we'd get away from work as well. We're already planning on also doing babysitting jobs on the side(I already have a set family I sit for often), and once I get a car I have an offer for a job at an arena in my town where you make your own hours, and is very flexible. My question here is, just for tips on how we can easily save up our money, and cheap ways of travel. Also any advice from experience you've had with this? And just anything else you'd think we'd need to know. (: Since it'll obviously be extremely expensive just to get there and find a place to stay, not to mention getting a rental and needing food. Thank you so much from any advice you can give. (:

Answer:
You can't rent a car as you much below the specified age. You don't need to worry on this as London has one of the worlds best public traportation system this way you will be able to save on your rental car also. Also when it come to staying don't stay in london city as it will roll you of your feet. Stay outside the city as accomodation there would be 60% less tha what you will get in city. Each morning you can wither take a train or a bus to the main city and it will cost to far less and 30 minutes you are there in the main city. It will surely help.

You won't be able to drive in the UK. Although you can drive here from the age of 17, almost every car hire company will not allow you to drive until you are at least 21 (some 25). So your best option for travel in the UK is by train and bus/coach. In London, we have the Oyster Card System, which is a plastic card which you load with money and use it to get cheaper travel on bus, tube and train. For venturing outside of London, there are either coaches or trains. Coaches are cheaper, but take longer. Accommodation - in London, you could consider looking at a Youth Hostel. Cheaper than hotels. If you start looking into costs now, you will be able to work out approximately how much you will need to save up. Just start a new bank account, put your spare money in it for the holiday and don't touch it until you need it for your trip. Keeping a separate account means that you won't be tempted to spend your savings.
