What is the closest 3 beaches to London and what ones are sandy?

Sandy beach max 2hrs drive from NW london?

  • I am looking for a sandy beach that would be not more than 2 hours drive from NW london. I know Camber Sands, Shoeburyness and Whitstable... My personal best is Camber - its so quiet and away from cities. Do you know any other small beaches, sandy ones, that are not populated... Somewhere close-by to Southend-on-Sea and not as far as Clacton-on-Sea. Please help me out here :)

    Brightlingsea - go down to where the beach huts are on Promenade Way have you tried Thorpe Bay, just round the corner from Shoeburyness Reculver - just a bit further on from Whitstable Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey Bradwell - not much sand but lovely and quiet - take the road out of the village of Bradwell-on-Sea towards St Peter's Chapel - there's a car park at the end of the road and you walk over the fields to the chapel on the edge of the coast - lovely walk around Sales Point from there too

Dungeoness. It is a deserted sandy wasteland in kent, where the film maker Derek Jarman used to live. Incredible place.

try going up to the norlfok coast nr Norwich ect. Easy on the M11 and A 45.
