I'll be moving to London with my wife on July. I'm looking for a nice 1 bedroom flat. Can anybody help me?

By "nice", I don't mean the fanciest. I just mean: 1.Safe - (my wife may be there alone while I travel occassionally), 2. Reasonable in terms of rent per week or per month. If it matters, my lodging budget is around 800 pounds per month. 3. A stone's throw away from a tube station and a Tesco/Sainsbury. 4. Modern development. 5. Within zone 1 or 2 and gets me into london bridge/embankment within half an hour the most. Are my requirements unreasonable? Is my rent budget too low? I know London is one of the most expensive cities in the world in which to live.

Answer:
hiya please try gumtree.com its a brill website and my daughter found a flat in london thru them. infact they can find or do almost anything for you, she finds jobs thru this site, travel, everything.....and the best bit about gumtree.com is, that its a europe website, every city in europe has their own gumtree.com apparently, i know london has one, leeds has their own and manchester, and iv seen the countrys listed when iv looked over her shoulder being nosey, as she lives in spain and they have a gumtree.com as well.....apparently good luck xx

www.gumtree.com Warning: If you want to live in zones 1 or 2 for 800 a month you might possibly get a studio flat but no more. Otherwise you're looking at a house or flat share.

There are a few places you could try but rents are high as is the cost of travel. http://www.uklondonrentals.com/ and you could try http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/ Good luck I don't think you will get much for what you are able to spend.

You should probably allocate about 1000 per month.....check this website, you can just type in the name of the tube station you want to live close to. At this website, you can also get the name and number of estate agents so they can help you with your hunt. www.rightmove.com

I had good luck renting a room through Craig's List. They also have apartments for rent, but you'll have to go farther out to find the cheaper rents. Also try Easyroomate.com. Sharing a flat would cut down on the expenses. Good luck to you.

For zone 1 and 2 your accommodation budget is way too low.
