Answer:
What the first answerer tells is wrong, the visa requirement is waived only when you hold a valid visa of certain countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America or a long-term Schengen-visa (type D) for European countries. You need a Direct Airport Transit Visa for your travel to Brasilia even if you stay in the International Area of Heathrow airport. It is usually no problem to get it unless you have committed a crime in the United Kingdom. You will need to show that you: • have booked an onward ticket from the UK for travel within 24 hours of your arrival; • will not need to change airport in the UK; • have all the correct documents you will need to be allowed to enter the country you are traveling to; and • will not need to pass through the UK's immigration control. Therefore you must have your luggage checked through to your final destination so that you can stay in the international area of the Heathrow airport. Source(s): http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf20transit#Q10 http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/ Edit (Based on the next contribution): I have explained the exception which the next contributor has mentioned and which are listed on the bottom of this page .. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvisa/visadatvnationals ..There you may see that holding of a Brazilian visa does not waive the DATV requirement. Furthermore it is your responsibility to get the required visa for your travel. You will find this provision in all terms of contracts which in general nobody reads.

If you are travelling Brazil via stop over at Heathrow airport (within the airport transit) (not london city), then you don't need. Moreover, this is the responsibility of the airliner/ agent to check all visas/ papers required upto the last destination, before issuing the ticket. You need not to worry. Enjoy you trip.

Hi Ricky, It all depends. The other answers on this page are correct to a point however there are quite a few exceptions depending for example on whether you hold any other visas, when those visas were issued etc and whether you intend to just transit airside or whether you wish to come outside the airport. I would go to the weblink http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/ where you can make sure. You may also find http://www.visitbritain.us/about-britain/practical-information/customs-and-immigration/ helpful. Have a good trip!
