How to hire a car near London Heathrow Airport?

Does anyone know of a car hire company in or near Stansted airport, London?

  • I'm Englishman living in Greece & want to hire a car for 5 days in August. Trouble is, I can't find a company that will accept 'Visa Electron.'Thanks for any help. I've tried all the major companies i.e. Hertz, Budget etc...

    If your Visa Electron has been issued by a UK bank then you can hire a car through the Easyjet website (as long as you select your country of residence as the UK rather than Greece): https://www.europcar4easyjet.com/index.html?locale=GB If it's a Greek card then this is about 10 miles from Stansted: http://www.selfdrivesaffronwalden.co.uk/location.html

You can't run Electron through the machine to collect the deposit if you don't bring the car back. You could always leave a deposit in cash. A full list of hire companies at Stansted are: Hertz, Budget, Avis, Europcar, National and Alamo. You may well find that they are all acting as agents for the same garage.
