What is the best "normal and cheap" thrift shop in London?

Going to London next week, what to do?

  • I'm going to London for a week with some friends, and I'd like some advice on what to do. Touristy things are good, but also please recommend fun free things to do.. Good places to shop that aren't too pricey.. etc. I really want to thrift- let me know of good places? And, I know this is nerdy, but I want to do something Harry Potter oriented. suggestions? we're staying at a friends apartment in Noting Hill, so recommendations for around there would be great too. thanks!

  • Answer:

You are in a perfect place stay in Notting Hill you are within access to everything that you would want to see . You can walk for miles round that area and see lots without going over the top on money . You have Portobella Road which is in Notting Hill (great market) then you have Bays Water road heading towards Shepherds Bush where you pass Hyde Park . The list is endless , utilize the weekly Zonal Travel cards as they save you a fortune and then London is yours to see . Make a hit list of places you want to go to as they are all accessible with the Travel Cards . Your friends will give you advice when you get to London.

I would recommend the London eye, the views are superb. The tower of London is really interesting. Most of the museums are free and they are quite interesting. Taking a boat trip along the Thames is great fun, the best place to get one is from Waterloo pier which is right next to the London Eye.

There is a lot to do alongside London's south bank from watching a Shakespearean play at the Globe theatre, visiting free art galleries such as the Tate Modern or going to the London Eye.
