Good places outside of London to rent?

Can someone give me some good places (names of towns) outside of london to look for a home to rent.

Answer:
St Albans , Hertford, Berkhamstead are three very attractive towns. Berkhampstead in more of a large village / small town. Watford is a bigger town and has excellent shops and shopping centre. Loughton on the edge of Epping Forest is a nice small town too. All have good access to central London Amersham and nearby towns are very nice too
