London College of Fashion summer course tube journeys?
-
I am planning on going to the 5 days 16-18's summer course in 'Introduction to the fashion industry' at the London College of Fashion. There is a halls of residence - Furzedown/Cedars - but it is quite far from the location of the course - High Holborn. I have been on a route planner, this is the link to the suggested route - http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&sessionID=TLJJP16P1_194554603&requestID=1&tripSelector3=1&itdLPxx_view=detail&tripSelection=on&command=nop&calculateDistance=1 It'd take around 1 hour each way.. do you think I'd be okay doing this? I live in Cornwall so have no experience of the tube really, and although I'm worried I think it will be worth it.

Answer:
The link timed out your session so it doesn't work... You should be fine travelling an hour each way, I think time goes quite quick on the tube lol.. Most people's commuting time is around that so plenty of people do it everyday. Get yourself an Oyster card once you're here and get a weekly travel card to save you travel money :)

First please don't panic; yes it does seem like an hour is along time, but basically many people have long commutes into London. Several people I know have commutes that are over 2 hours long. At Furzedown you will have the choice of 3 stations: Tooting Beck underground, Streatham and Streatham Common overground stations. The Overground lines will take you into London, then you will find the tube circuit that takes you onto the Central line an head to Holborn. Most Londoner have a lover/ hate relation with the Tube system- it's always packed and people push a bit. BUT it does get you there faster than buses and walking. Be prepared for the heat & the crowds: take water and some thing that tunes out the world- I use a book & an Ipod. One person I know admitted to meditating on the way to work (LOL). I live much further out than the halls of residence- it tales me much longer to commute!
