Can you live in London without a Car?

If you live in Milton Keynes, is a car a must? Do you commute to London?

  • how long does it take? Is there a particular suburb you like? Looking for a family nieghbourhood but I don't drive (yet!)

  • Answer:

It is one of the few places where you don't need a car. The bus service is excellent, and a day bus pass is so cheap and you can use different buses as many times as you like. Some estates are a walking distance from the centre. The in place to live now is the West Side - ie Shenley Lodge, Shenley Church End, Furzton, Shenley Brook, WestCroft and those areas which have been recently developed around these areas going a bit more North near Morrisons.

You don't need a car in Milton Keynes; there are plenty of local buses in the city and longer routes to surrounding towns such as Aylesbury and Oxford. Milton Keynes Railway Station is on the West Coast main line from London Euston and trains are operated by Virgin Trains and London Midland Trains. Frequent services to London operated by Virgin take 35 minutes and there are also trains from Milton Keynes to Northampton,Watford,Birmingham,Crewe,Man… etc.

its pretty useful to have a car because Milton Keynes is like a new town with lots of estates and stuff. there are bus and train services but I think having a car is important because the different parts of the town are quite spread out. its a bit weird because its so new but i think its a nice family area and theres a nice big shopping centre with a nice John Lewis and allsorts like that.
