Schools in London?

Why are the best private schools in London all boys schools?

  • I asked a question earlier about which schools in London have the best reputation and i recieved this list: "St Pauls School, Westminster, Harrow, St Alfreds (Golders Green), University College School (Hampstead)" I went to each schools site and the only 2 that had girls were Westminster and UCS; but Westminster allows them only at 16+ and UCS only allows them from age 3-7 and then after 18. Are there any well reguarded schools in and around London that accept both males and females?

  • Answer:

Firstly, to get a proper choice you will need to split your search into Preparatory (ages 2-13) and senior schools (age 13-18). Most children do not board until at least 13 years of age. Most schools do flexi boarding these days which can be started from just 1 night per week and gradually built up. Gone are the days of cold showers and flogging. It' seems to be just one giant sleep over these days. Here are the Senior Schools- co-educational. http://www.best-schools.co.uk/league-tables/co-educational-boarding-schools.aspx Prep Schools http://www.best-schools.co.uk/league-tables/prep-schools.aspx Other: http://www.guidetoindependentschools.com/ The only one that I can think of that is co-ed all the way through from 2-18 is City of London Freemans but that's in Surrey. http://www.clfs.surrey.sch.uk/
