How much does a weekend in London cost?

Weekend London travel?

  • I'm off to London for the weekend.. And i was wondering how much it costs to get around London. Should I travel around on the bus?? How much does it cost? Because I wanna go to as many places as I can. And I don't want to spend a long time getting to the places I want to :p And taxis are expensive right?

  • Answer:

Make sure you check whether the tubes will actually be running that weekend! They do a lot of engineering work at weekends. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/default.aspx Tube - £6-7 for the day -depending on which zones you want to use. The further out, the more moeny you pay. All the main things should be within zones 1-2 though. Bus - around £4-5 for the day. If you have time, the best is cheaper. But the tube will be much quicker, and for a day pass not that expensive. Although depending on where you want to go - you can walk it easily! Where are you travelling from? If its not too far, you could get a travel card from the station, which gets you into london and then around on the bus/ tube.

Taxis are extremely expensive. You can buy a One Day Off Peak Travelcard each day for £8 (after 09-30am weekdays; anytime weekends) which gives you unlimited travel within the London travel zones on the Underground, buses, London Overground, suburban rail, light rail and trams. Buy them at any rail station, Underground station and many small shops There is also the Oyster Card. See www.tfl.gov.uk
