Kings Cross Station to Wembley Stadium?

Is it possible to go to kings cross station in London while on a 3hr layover at Heathrow airport?

  • I will be going to Amsterdam in May and I will have a 3hr layover at London Heathrow airport. It is not in my budget to go to London, but I have always wanted to go to Kings Cross station and take a picture of the platform 9 and 3/4 sign, according to info online there is actually a sign that someone put up and it is still there. Does anyone know if it is possible to travel from heathrow to kings cross and back within that time frame so that I can catch my flight? Or is that not enough time? Also how much would it cost for transportation, cab or train? Thanks for any info. P.S if it is not possible to leave heathrow are there any suggestions for how to kill 3hrs? Any authentic fish and chips places in the airport? :)

  • Answer:

I was just in Heathrow. As everyone has stated, I wouldn't try to make that trip. You have to consider the fact that you'll have to go trough security again. As far as authentic fish and chips, I didn't see a place there. But there are a lot of great restaurants there. Maybe try Gordon Ramsey's restaurant up stairs. I ate dessert there. Amazingly good.

No, it will take you all your time to get through the Airport, possibly change Terminals and then check in again two hours before the next leg of your flight. Don't even think about it! You will have little time to spare. Sit in one of the bars, have a glass of wine and do some people watching!

There's no point in even trying. You'll spend 1/2 of your time trying to get there, and then you'd have to zoom back to the Airport. You could visit the city another time though :)

please don't try trust me that station is almost 20 miles far from LHR

It would be extremely tight as it's about 1.5 hours each way by underground and you'd be paying way, way over the odds for either the heathrow express or a cab. There are lots of shops at Heathrow, at least that's how I killed 1.5 hours whilst waiting for a flight. I also think if it's just a stopover you can't leave the terminal as you have to go through customs.
