How to find a room in London?

Best Estate Agencies to find a room in a flat share in London?

  • Hi Everyone! I've been looking for a room in flat share in London for nearly one week night and day on gumtree, spareroom, flatshare, and so on...and I'm fed up with that! Or better, Im desperate guys! The only replies im getting back are completely scam! Someone of you maybe knows of the rip-off related to the Western Union. Well, at this point my question is: Is there any estate agency in London to help me in my search? I fear that they cannot provide any services in sharing, but just about the whole property, Am I wrong? Anyway, if you know of any of them, please give a ring. Many thanks in advance to all of you. Hi :) when ur question said flatshare, the sites like gumtree wld be the ones I wld have said to you, and as ur question also says best estate agencies... Well for pretty much a fact in every country on the face of this earth, there are NO best estate agencies on this planet. - Esatate agents care about 1 thing & 1 thing only! Getting as much money from the landlord, the tenant or the government doing housing aid/benfit as they can. People go to them to sell or to rent their house as doing it privately can be harder & you can get all kinds of problems if you find bad tenants, and agencies are supposed to know their jobs, but really a lot of them just stick the photo of the house in their window or on their site and wait for someone to look at it, they dont care who, just so long as you have the money for the huge deposits and fees! Oh yes the 300.00 pounds fees they take from the tenant & the 20percent a month some charge the landlord. - you could be living next door to axe m*rders, 10,000 mice&bugs, night clubs full of drunks every night who wee up ur house lol, they dont care just so long as u can pay the rent. - OK those are some of the facts.... There are loads of sites to rent rooms, and thousands of adverts IN every area of London, on shop windows in local papers and so on, as you havent stated any specific area that you want to move to, your options are pretty big for the search parameters. - what you need to do is decide what particular areas you would like to live in, then try gumtree etc for those areas, or the local newspapers, some of those are all the (area) post, the (area) recorder, yellow advertiser, (area = the area ur searching for) the LOOT is a massive paper full of houses/rooms and all sorts of things www.loot.com - some smaller estate agencies do rent rooms, but they go fast so are only in their window or in their branch, sometimes they dont even have websites. - i know searching is hard as ive done it myself, and ive found quite a few bad ones, a room i rented in chadwell heath looked nice but the people was scum, the landlords wld go in the rm while i was out, stuff went "missing" they partied till 4am most nights, smoked, done drugs, i was getting abt 2 hrs sleep a day, it was nightmare, for 2 weeks thr was 14 ppl living in this 3 bed house!! so you need to be really careful, i caught them going in my room 1 day cos i felt unwell so i stayed in! And they unlocked the door while i was in a sh!t themselves to see i was in haha, i left a few days after that as they was total scum, and yet i got this thru estate agents. - even if there was such a thing as a best estate agent theres no guarantee the landlord is good, ur roommates or the ppl next door! :/ i cant stand noise myself especially music going on to 4am 5am etc. And ive had that several times. But thats me, i like sleep at night! And the agents dont care cos u signed a contract, and ur stuffed then. - hopefully u will find somewhere nice and clean, they are out there, but they go very fast. - decide what areas you want to live in. - search google or local area sites for listings in those areas. (yell.com/thomsonlocal.co.uk) - trying calling agents in those areas once you have found them on the listings, calling is faster as they can let u know NOW if they have anything, emailing means they MIGHT get back to you if they can remember u among hundreds of emails. Money is the key! If ur smart and hv money they help you faster, but if u hv money they know you shld be wanting ur own place... :/ have you tried to rent your own studio flat? good rooms can be 80-100.00 a week and a small studio as low as 260.00 month, www.clintons.com did have some a while ago. - i know there is a lot of sad points in this reply, but im telling you from what ive learned on my years of searching through this nightmare of estate agents and lettings. - one thing you could try is go to the areas search the shop windows as some shops do have 100+ adverts on them for rooms to rent. - the sites you have tried, are the main ones people use.:/ sorry this reply is a mess, im in bad pain from falling 2 hrs ago.:/ recap ; try local papers, try libraries as they are full of information& they have websites for every area, try the online sites again, and maybe in the scams u can find something still available, try smaller estate agents, try shop windows, if you knew what areas anyone replying could give more help cos they might actually live in those areas. Sorry :/ hope u find somewhere.
