How To Place An Ad On Gumtree?

Is there anywhere else besides Gumtree to look for flats in london?

  • When i moved to the UK I used Gumtree to find places to live, we used it every year for 5 years... My sister has moved to the UK and I told her to use Gumtree, but after going on there myself, I have relaised that the site is now quite rubbish, and there is next to no flats available. Also, after putting a Wanted ad on the site, all she got was scam emails offering "too good to be true" places, in exchange for paying the rent without seeing the room (who falls for these scams!) Where else can I direct my sis to find a suitable place to live.

Sorry about the scams - check the Google Search link below. http://www.google.com/search?q=flats%20and%20rooms%20to%20rent%20london%20uk The other way of finding a flat/room or rooms is to visit a given area and check all the shop windows for local ads offering places to rent. Must better because you'll be in direct contact with whoever is letting out and not an agency and no fees blah etc. Most folk will probably ask for a months rent in advance - usual thing. Rightmove.co.uk is THE best site for finding somewhere. There's loads of places on there and it's really user friendly. Propertyfinder and Loot are not as good but still better than Gumtree!
