Is it dangerous to go out by yourself at night in London?

I am having one last night out in London before I go travelling and was after some suggestions . . .?

  • After pondering a few different cities, I have decided that a night in the capital would be a good send off. I have never been out in London for a night out and was wondering what cheap or free entertainment would be on offer. We arrive in London Victoria around 2PM, october 1st 2011. I want us to have a big night, but dont want us to start drinking too early. What activities, gigs, events or clubs can anyone advise for around that time of year (baring in mind, this is very much a lads day/night out)?

Hi, In my view there are two places to go out in London. One is Camden and the other is Shoreditch; and if you have alot of energy you could conceivably do both given that they are both on the Northern Line. Here is a link, which will provide you with the details of all the main bars and clubs in Camden, with a map so you can see where they are all located in relation to each other. Camden is mainly for people who like rock, alt, indie and stuff like northern soul. http://www.ravishlondon.com/whattodoinlondon/#1saturday Shoreditch & Brick Lane (which you can get to via Liverpool Street or Old Street stations) is more electro-pop; dance; retro and vintage. It is full of wierdly dressed people, artists and bohemians. You could imagine it being pretty snobby but it isn't, everyone is welcome, the modus operandi is vive la difference and viva indifference. But it has some incredibly cool hang outs and the music; especially some of the remixed 80s stuff like Prince e.g. is just out of this world. Pubs and clubs include dreambagsjaguarshoes, 333, Horse and Groom, Favela Chic, Cargo and lots lots more that I have never been to. If you go here, dont forget to finish the night off with a Beigel down Brick Lane See http://www.ravishlondon.com/whattodoinlondon#bricklanebeigelbake If you are arriving at 2, and want best of both worlds, I'd start off hanging out Brick Lane and Shoreditch and then move on to Camden later. Alternatively, you could go down to Camden for the market, and then end up in Shoreditch. I'll leave you to it - hope you have a good night. RL
