Are hostels in London safe?

London hostels question?

  • Are hostels in London usually safe? I am traveling from overseas to London for 3-4 days then move to another city to my University accommodation and need a cheap place to stay so I was thinking about hostels. My concern is, will I be able to place my bags in a safe location ? I find the idea of having 8-12 people/beds in the same room kinda unsafe specially with my stuff away from me.. Also, What else do I have to know about these hostels?

  • Answer:

There are some hostels (such as the YHA locations) where you can book a single room. It's more expensive but much more safe. Some have lockers where you can store stuff. London hostels seem to be pretty safe. The YHA (youth hostel association) has lots around central London and they are made for young people and families, so they are generally a safe, good place to stay. Good luck and enjoy London! :)

I agree with Emmaleigh - you can't go wrong with the YHA. It's incredibly safe and friendly. http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/ Most have personal lockers and internet access.
