Where are some good places to live in London for a young professional?

Art student, where are trendy places to live in London?

  • Will be moving to London soon. Could you please tell me which areas in London are affordable for a student and trendy for a young artist. I can't afford Hampstead nor Chelsea. But I'm not interested in the rich areas, more of the artists and young musicians scene areas. Hate to use the "trendy" term but any safe but also affordable areas ( not over £115 per week) would be greatly appreciated. cheers

  • Answer:

I would investigate Islington , Camden and nearby areas. Every part of London has very expensive parts bordered by less expensive parts . In my opinion North London ( north of the Thames) is a much better bet for you than S London .

Hackney or Shoreditch in Central London. Also Spitalfields in Brick Lane is't bad. Can I ask you a question. How do Art student gona make a living after graduates...are you gona sell your Picaso paints for high Picasso price in New York or something???

Camden Town is very exciting! It's full of vintage people and markets and it seems to be a very eccentric, artsy area. I loved it there! Also, I do recommend Brixton. I stayed there for about two weeks at my cousin's flat. It used to be a bad area of London, full of crime and whatnot, but the last 5 years or more it is steadily growing and isn't considered a bad area anymore. People will still warn you about that, but I assure you it's not bad at all. The majority of the area is African/Caribbean. It is a very interesting, friendly place. Very ecclectic and artsy!
