Weekend in London, where to go?
-
Hey everyone, well hopefully this thursday i shall be going to london with my best friend and we will stay there for atleast three nights, i will be staying in hounslow and i was wondering where are the best places to go out? for example shopping, cinemas, restaruants, bars and clubs (not too expensive) i have been london before but havent really seen the whole area properly, we will be going to west field and piccadilly but where can we go that will not cost us much and be a good place to go out, day and evening? bearing in mind that we are 18 so will not have much money to spend haha, although i know its london so everything will be pretty expensive..also how easy is transport in london such as buses and tubes to get us where we want to go? thank you for any help :) xxx

Answer:
Hounslow is well out of Central London, so I suggest you get a Travelcard (Do you already have an Oyster card?). This will be the easiest way of getting about. Look at www.tfl.gov.uk for details of Travelscards etc. DO LOOK AT THIS SITE because it tells you about engineering works on the underground at the weekend. You will need to plan your travelling in London depending on which stations and which tube lines are open. Greenwich is interesting, with a daily market (accessories, fun jewellery etc). Go by Underground to Tower Hill or Tower Gateway; on exit walk under the road to see the Tower of London. Go left to walk on Tower Bridge (it wobbles in the middle if a bus or lorry goes over). When walking off the bridge go down the steps (looks like an underpass) and you will be at river level by a gate into the Tower Gardens, right by the river. You can walk along between the Tower of London and the river without paying entrance money. When you come out of Tower Gardens go back towards the river and there are the Ticket Offices for the boats to Greenwich (etc). At Greenwich you can walk along the river, do the market, buy a sandwich at M&S Food, and see Greenwich Park (not sure what it's like at the moment as there is work being done for the Olympics). At the top of the hill in the park is the observatory, which may interest you, and also the Greenwich meridian, where you can take a photo with one foot in the western hemisphere and one in the Eastern hemisphere. Return by DLR from Cutty Sark station - it's signed. Cost:- a Travelcard (which you need anyway), a single boat ticket to Greenwich, a M&S sandwich.
