Does anyone know of any interesting free things to do in london tonight?

People who live in/ know a lot about/ or have some knowledge about London, England?

  • People who live in/ know a lot about/ or have some knowledge about London, England? Okay, I'm planning on going to London soon and I need to learn the basic things. Like what's common courtesy, things I shouldn't do, HOW THERE MONEY SYSTEM WORKS, things I should/ shouldn't do in everyday/ certain situations, how to make sure I don't insult anyone on accident, any certain laws I should know about, and anything else that would help me...... I'm from Florida so I barely know any of these things..... Thank you sooo much and have a wonderful day!!!! I do know about giving up your seat for an old woman or a pregnant women, but I had no idea that you shouldn't tip at a bar or you shouldn't really talk to random people on the subway.... Stuff like that. Little tips

Hi, I'm not from London but I visited there a few days ago and have completely fallen in love with it! Keep a tight hand on your purse at all times. It might be sensible to have it in a zipped pocket because someone could easily snatch it but this has never happened to me and the chances of it happening are slim but you never know. In the 'subway' you should keep to the left side of the escalators because the right side is for people to run up if they're in a rush. The same with stairs, one side is for people going up and the other is for people going down. The underground (subway) is often crowded and the trains can sometimes be really tightly packed so be warned. In the lifts as well its really quiet which is awkward. I found that people were really helpful and friendly and many have amazing Cockney accents! It's a really beautiful place, in my opinion, I can't wait to move!

Common courtesy is pretty similar everywhere so I'm sure you'll be fine. You can tip at a bar if you want, it's not frowned upon it's just not seen as as important as it is in America. We do tip here but mostly in restaurants and only a little bit and not always. It's really rude not to tip in America isn't it? As for not talking to people in the tube that's a purely London thing and it's a bit odd really. Don't get why the tube is so anti-social lol. You may get some odd looks if you do talk to random people there but it's not rude or anything. I wouldn't worry, just do what you do in Florida and you'll be fine. As for asking how the money system works I don't really know what you mean, we use pounds and have notes and coins just like everywhere else.
