If you're not already using it, there's a google XML site map plugin for WordPress. That should solve problems.

If you're already using that, it could be just a settings issue.

Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Consistently being in debt

If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.

From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.

Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.

How to get started

Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:

Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus
Fix your credit

We will need a lot more information than that to be able to help you. What page builder are you using, what other plugins are you using, what theme are you using? Have you tried de-activating all other plugins except your page builder plugin? Were you able to save then? If so, the problem is a conflict between your page builder plugin and one of the other plugins, most likely a caching plugin.

We’d have to see the code before your changes, after your changes, and a link to the site. (You might have your browser caching the site, so the changes aren’t showing up on your browser, but they are on the site.)

If any of the terms above make you cross-eyed, I suggest your contact your tech support team. Or, do some reading up on caches.

These are the steps I usually follow, and trust me, it’s not as daunting as it sounds.

Step 1: Check Your Current PHP Version

First things first, let’s see what version you’re currently running.

  1. Log in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Site Health.
  3. Click on the Info tab and expand the Server section. Here, you’ll spot your current PHP version.

Step 2: Backup Your Website

Step 2: Backup Your Website

Before making any big changes, it's a good idea to back up your site. Use plugins like UpdraftPlus to handle this automatically. Or, you can manually export your database through phpMyAdmin.

Step 3: Check PHP Compatibility

Install a PHP compatibility checker plugin. This plugin will scan your site and let you know if there are any issues with your current themes or plugins in relation to the new PHP version.

Step 4: Update PHP Version

Now, onto the actual update. Depending on your hosting setup, you’ll do it a bit differently:

Via Hosting Control Panel:

  • cPanel: Log in to your cPanel account. Go to Software > Select PHP Version. Choose your desired PHP version and click Set as current.
  • Plesk: Log in to Plesk. Navigate to Domains > Your Domain > PHP Settings. Select the new PHP version from the dropdown and click Apply.

Via Hosting Provider Support:

  • If you’re unsure how to do it or if your host doesn’t offer a control panel, just reach out to their support team. They’re usually pretty quick to help you with the update.

Step 5: Test Your Website

Alright, it’s time to check if everything’s still working smoothly.

  1. Check Your Frontend and Backend: Visit your website and log into your WordPress admin area to make sure everything looks good.
  2. Enable Debugging (if you run into issues): Add these lines to your wp-config.php file to turn on debugging:
    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

Check the wp-content/debug.log file for any errors.

Step 6: Update Plugins and Themes

Make sure all your plugins and themes are up-to-date:

  1. Go to Dashboard > Updates and update all plugins and themes to their latest versions.

Step 7: Disable Debugging (after you’ve sorted everything out)

Once you’ve fixed any issues and everything’s running smoothly, you should turn off debugging:

  1. Edit wp-config.php and either set the debug constants back to false or remove them:phpCopy codedefine('WP_DEBUG', false); define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', false); define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

And there you have it! With these steps, you can update your PHP version. It’ll keep your WordPress site running smoothly and securely.

Not much. An XML basically helps the search engine to find out about your website’s internal structure in order to save at least a bit of the crawling budget assigned to your website. So, the crawler will possibly crawl new or updated pages more quickly. But a presence or absence of a sitemap will not affect your rankings.

While nothing may happen if you don't have an XML sitemap uploaded you will miss out on the benefits. It's too easy to build a sitemap now so there's no excuse to not have one set up and submitted.

If you don't currently have one set up go ahead and install Yoast. This plugin will provide you with a dynamic XML sitemap.

Upgrading the database

If you set up your WordPress site a couple of years ago chances are it is still running on a MySQL 4.x database which is no longer supported by WordPress 3.x. In other words, to keep your site safe and get the use of the latest and greatest WordPress has to offer you have to upgrade your database. Some hosting providers will let you automatically upgrade your 4.x database to 5.x, but a lot of them won’t.

In other words you have to set up a new 5.x database, dump the old 4.x database and import the dump to your 5.x database, then rewrite your wp-config.php file to access the new one. Tricky, yes, but it’s a necessary evil of running a WordPress site, so let’s get crackin’.

Create a new 5.x database

Whichever method you use there are two vital components to this step:

  1. Make sure the new database is running MySQL 5.0 or greater
  2. Set a strong password. I use a random password generator and create 32 to 64 key passes every time.

Create a dump of your old database

To do this you have to go to phpMyAdmin and do a password dump. The WordPress Codex has a full rundown of how to do this but here’s how to do it on 1&1 if you don’t want to follow the link.

  1. Go to phpMyAdmin and find the database you want to back up
  2. Click Export to get to the export page (position of the Export option varies depending on host and phpMyAdmin version)
  3. Under Export you want the following options checked (see grab below):
  4. Export type: SQL
  5. Structure: Add DROP TABLE, Add AUTO_INCREMENT value, Enclose table and field names with blockquotes
  6. Data: Complete Inserts, Use hexadecimal for binary fields
  7. Save as file
  8. Compression: None
  9. Click Go to save the file on your computer

Import the old database content into the new database

To import the old database dump you first go to phpMyAdmin for your new 5.x database. From here you have to find the import function. As with the export function it’ll be found in different places depending on hosting provider and phpMyAdmin version. On 1&1 it’s located in the Query Window. To get to it click the SQL icon underneath the 1&1 logo and the query window will open.

I’m getting a SQL error! The sky is falling!

There’s a chance you’ll get a SQL error here. If you do, it’s most likely something along the lines of “Cannot create new database dbXXXXX because dbXXXXX already exists” or some such message. Infuriating, but as always there is a simple solution:

Because phpMyAdmin was a little too smart and added an entry into your backup telling itself to create a new database with the same name when the file was imported. It makes sense in certain cases, but not in ours so we need to get rid of it for everything to work.

First, make a copy of your backup file just in case. It’s always a good idea to make extra backups. Then open the backup file in your favorite text editor. I use Notepad++. Somewhere towards the top of the file you’ll find something similar to these two lines of code:

phpMyAdmin sees these two lines and goes “Oh, I need to create a new database with this name. But wait, this current database has a different name, and the database name it’s asking me to use is already being used by another database. I’m confused. Error. Error. Error.”

Setting up WordPress to talk to the new database

With the old database content running on a fresh new 5.x database we can do what we set out to do initially: Upgrade WordPress manually.

You see, you can upgrade WordPress manually by simply deleting all the old files of the installation and replacing them with new ones. Since all your content and configurations is housed in the database, WordPress itself is replaceable.

First off, get the newest version of WordPress from Blog Tool, Publishing Platform, and CMS - WordPress. WordPress’ upgrade frequency is pretty high these days so don’t trust even a week-old copy. Next do a standard WordPress setup by configuring wp-config.php:

  1. Open wp-config-sample.php in your text editor
  2. Go to line 19 and insert the database name of your new database
  3. Go to line 22 and insert your database username
  4. Go to line 25 and insert that long password we created towards the beginning of this tutorial
  5. Go to line 28 and insert the database host name if necessary (your host will tell you if it is)
  6. Visit https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/ to get fresh Salt for your installation
  7. Copy the entire bulk of code you find on the Salt page
  8. Highlight lines 45 to 52 in wp-config-sample.php, delete the code and paste in the Salt you just copied in step 7
  9. Save the file as wp-config.php

Note: I hope you get the answer.

There are several possible reasons why your WordPress site is not showing anything. The most common include: an incorrect domain name, a faulty hosting service, a corrupt WordPress installation, an incompatible theme or plugin, an outdated version of WordPress, an outdated version of PHP, an incorrect database configuration, or an incorrect WordPress configuration file. If none of these appear to be the cause, you may need to contact your hosting provider for further assistance.

In the customize panel, under menu, there is a section to declare the menu location as primary, footer, etc. Once I checked the box, the menu self-corrected. Now the page order was right.

Sometimes its the simplest things that can cause a page to fail.

First, let’s clear something up here, MySQL isn’t “in” WordPress. Your WordPress site has two parts: the code, which is mostly PHP and run by your web server, and the database, which is stored in MySQL. Note that your server might be running a MySQL-compatible alternative like MariaDB or Percona.

There are two primary scenarios we’ll look at, and truthfully, I’m not going to walk you through all the steps to get there. But let’s get you going in the right direction.

1. You run and have control over the server running your WordPress site, so you can actually update MySQL yourself. This could be the case if you’re running a dedicated server, a VPS, or something along those lines. Though of course, you can have a “managed” dedicated server or VPS, which falls into #2.
2. The server hosting your site is controlled and managed by your web host, like WP Engine, SiteGround, GoDaddy, etc.

#1 is more involved, so we’ll tackle #2 first:

You don’t…

You ask your web host to upgrade MySQL. As of 2022, you’d likely be asking for version 5.7 or 8.0 (there isn’t a 6.0 or 7.0, that was essentially 5.6 and 5.7).

Not all web hosts are ready for MySQL 8, but if they won’t upgrade you to 5.7, then you find a competent web host (like WP Engine), and they’ll often help you move [ https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-migration-plugins/ ] your site to their servers.

If your web host is really good, they upgrade MySQL without you asking, and you wouldn’t be reading this!

Now, back to #1

You don’t…

If you have control over your server, the best option is to upgrade the operating system. For example, you use the built-in upgrader [ https:/...

Sometimes, you are advised to backup before you update, updates of core can cause conflict with oldr plugins so backup before you update to avoid losing data, disable all the plugins before the update then turn them on one at a time to ensure nothing breaks, then it's easir to pick out incompatible plugins…. But really make a backup cos if it goes wrong in the update you could lose everything with no chance to recover

Nothing.

That's kind of the point. A missing XML sitemap isn't really a negative indicator, it's a missed opportunity to help the search engines properly index your content and better understand how the pages relate to each other.

Actually I am not sure about your question, but as i can understand if you the author or contributor of your website then you can't change the things which is designed by administrator of your website. And if you are administrator of your website, still getting error then it could be the problem of permission or access to your FTP account that usually come when you migrate your website. Try change your website writing permissions using any FTP software to 777.

Hey man, there could be a number of reasons why your site is blank after the update.

WordPress calls out three main reasons why this could happen:

  • A plugin or update to a plugin is incompatible with another piece of software on your site.
  • A theme causes a conflict with something already installed on your site (such as a plugin that calls on the same script).
  • The theme file is missing from WordPress.

Recommended Steps

  1. Disable your plugins one by one to see if any plugin is causing this issue.
  2. check your permalink structure and .htaccess file permission
  3. try switching to the default theme to see if that

Hope this will help!

But from my side… the list is here
