I have used Messages+ on my Android phones for years, and now I'm getting messages saying that Messages+ will be retired on 11/07/2024.
The suggested replacement app is Google Messages, but I'm not liking it. It's okay, but I have a feeling that there's a better app out there. Please help! 🙂
I am not good in messaging with an app. But I think WhatsApp, viber, Facebook messenger, emo and may be telegram, though don’t have any idea about instant messaging that much.
Usability and security would be the most important ones for me. From there you can build on like management for the groups, speed, and what you want personally. A good example of something like that you can look at would be Brosix.
I think the most useful feature is the ability to create coupons and send the via SMS. Recipients can also respond to any message that they receive.

Everything must work, this doesn't mean it has to be bug free but the bugs shouldn't prevent people from doing what the app is supposed to do. For instance if its a message sending app. The send button must work no matter what, if there is a bug that delays the message, its more acceptable than not being able to send the message.

- Should be simple to use, I don't need to get a tutorial to be able to do what I want to do. It should be straight forward. This can be considered good UX but I wanted this separate because, I see this to be just bad design rather than bad UX (just my opinion).
- Not everything has to load, even websites these days don't hit the server all the time. Making the app work as if its super fast. This experience is really necessary. Only the vitals, not every single thing should load.
- Follow what is out there. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean build or design every app to look like the apps out there, but know what is standard and follow it. It only makes things easier for people because they are already familiar with it. For instance, displaying a button as an alert instead of using a popup or modal or something. There are certain things that are standard and must be followed.
- Be uniform across. If your error dialogs are going to have a red background, all error dialogs across the app must have a red background. Some shouldn't be blue etc. This is also under good UX just wanted to make this a very necessary point.
There are no magic bullets -- you’re going to want to code it (or pay to have it coded). WYSIWYG app building tools are not recommended. In your case, learning how to code is needed, unless you can afford outsourcing the creation of the app to specialized company. If this is the case, it can be a strong option but do your due diligence. Be careful who you work with, because if your idea is really good the outsourcing company could make your dream happen behind your back…

LUDO KING & DOUBTNUT —— 2 apps which I installed in the lockdown period
I uninstalled both of them few years ago because I lost the interest in the game and my JEE exam completed. I recently re installed both again. But I observed the changes in the features of these apps.
At the time of my initial use, LUDO KING had a feature that allowed chatting with other players during the game. However, I didn't appreciate it much because many players used it for random and irrelevant conversations instead of focusing on the game itself. Fortunately, they have now made a change to the feature. One can only

One can only chat with another player if the request is accepted, otherwise, players are solely focused on playing the game without any distractions.
On the other hand, in the initial days of the DOUBTNUT app, they had a feature that allowed anyone to answer other students' questions regarding their doubts. I liked it. However, they have now removed that feature and added another one where you can post pictures and receive likes. Even though the feature description claims that it is meant to make students interactive and allow them to share their work, it doesn't serve that purpose. Over 90% of the posts consist of random photos or quotes. The worst part is the comment section, which is often filled with inappropriate content. And let's not even talk about the frequent pop-up ads that appear every other minute.
The feature updates should aim to bring the app closer to its intended purpose rather than turning it into just another platform where users solely pursue their own objectives.
