I came across some beautiful wordmarks while browsing the internet, and I’m curious about the fonts used in them. I did a search (except for Bookmania) but couldn’t find any information. Is there a chance these are custom fonts? If so, I’d really appreciate any suggestions for similar fonts.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The shutterstock logo is most probably hand-drawn. It appears to be based on Uni Sans SemiBold, a modern, DIN-inspired font, though the ‘s’ and ‘t’ are different.

The ‘t’s would be easy enough to create in Adobe Illustrator; the ‘s’s probably came from a standard DIN font like Linotype’s DIN Next Pro Medium.

I probably found the font they based their logo on:

The Y's have been changed, but the U and the R match perfectly.

After changing the Y's, they added a skew and a drop shadow.

I’m a huge financial nerd, and have spent an embarrassing amount of time talking to people about their money habits.

Here are the biggest mistakes people are making and how to fix them:

Not having a separate high interest savings account

Having a separate account allows you to see the results of all your hard work and keep your money separate so you're less tempted to spend it.

Here is a list of the top savings accounts available today. Deposit $5 before moving on because this is one of the biggest mistakes and easiest ones to fix.

Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Consistently being in debt

If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.

From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.

Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.

How to get started

Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:

Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus

There are many digital versions of Goudy Old Style around, none of which seems to match the typeface in the Saatchi & Saatchi logo exactly. The low, dimpled serif on the ‘&’ in particular is not easy to find. The wordmark on the Saatchi & Saatchi website is custom drawn (see the conjoined ‘AA’), so it would be no surprise if there isn’t an exactly matching typeface.

In the right-hand column of the pop-up window, select “Computed”, then scroll down until you see the item “font-family”. I read “geomanist, Helvetica, Arial”, which is the full list of fallback fonts that might be used if the first is unavailable. Again, it appears that the default preferred font is geomanist, which is likely what you’re interested in.

Here is my observation on SnapDeal’s new logo.

There is a cube with a 3D perspective ,slightly titled to the right.

The cube supports their tag line “Unbox Zindagi” perfectly.

From a design and psychology perspective, it is the angle at which the cube is placed that makes all the difference.

When there is an object facing or inclined to right, you give more of your focus to what is next to it, which is SnapDeal.

You can see the difference in the image below.

  • The color chosen is really good for app. But it really flashes itself in the website. Too bright and it overshadows what actually the people have to look at.
  • The logo and the tagline go hand in hand. Unbox Zindagi- that's the tagline. The logo doesn't look like a box at the first sight. But see properly for few seconds it'll make sense.
  • The red and blue combination wasn't as effective as it should've been. It might be because it was a startup which took off. They might have not given much importance to the logo. But they survived till now and re-branding had to be done to stay in market and fight for the place

Amazon is growing fast. Flipkart is dropping down. You don't want to be out of the race when Flipkart is dropping down and there's a chance to put yourself in the top spot, do you?

But everything mentioned above has been rectified with the new positioning of the company. The new logo is a brilliant example of flat design which shows a white box over a background of

The aspiration of an Indian consumer lies in small things. Indian market works incredibly well with emotional appeal. And that’s what Snapdeal has done with designing a box full of hope and opportunities which is asking its consumer to
Unbox Zindagi.

In order to decipher the font used on a site, this is how you find out what font is being used in any section:

  1. Go to the website.
  2. Place cursor over the text you wish to know more about.
  3. Highlight the text by holding the left mouse key down over that text.
  4. Right click on the highlighted text. A pop-up window appears.
  5. Scroll down until you see information on text format. You should start to see familiar styles of text specified.

The change from the previous red with a blue tinge has now undergone a complete make-over, intoducing minimalist design.

If you compare it with the Dropbox logo, which is:

It almost seems like the logos have something in common. The new logo, which is painted in a magnificient shade of red called Vermello, has been designed by UK-based ‘Design Studio’ that has previously worked with the likes of Airbnb, Nokia and Premiere League.

If we look into the logo, the two arrows indicate better consumer connection, which has been the prime motto of the company. The unveiling of a changeover was highly anticipated by people close to the company, with Snapdeal making Twitter post with the hashtag #UnboxNewSnapdeal. Apart from the grand branding overhaul, the company is also said to be working on a large-scale advertsising campaign, depicting its updated goals and priorities. Snapdeal co-founder Rohit Bansal himself is personally heading the brand+ad project in partnership with advertising agency McCann Erickson.

It almost looks like the company is taking some steps out to make its presence felt in the market competing against the likes of Amazon and Flipkart. There will be a massive advertising campaign with the festive season on its way. So, Snapdeal will be looking to attract new customers, alongwith making its active users have better user experience.

Here’s a youtube video of the advertisement. The company has surely put a lot into so little, and the video looks promising.

Let’s see the change it brings to Snapdeal.
