One app that I've been using recently, downloaded from iTunes store's staff picks section, is Worldictioanry. The app provides real-time translation to a handful of languages and it seems quiet good.

Have been trying to learn Italian lately and this app just makes it easier.

Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Consistently being in debt

If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.

From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.

Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.

How to get started

Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:

Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus
Fix your credit

Bubble Levels - I have several - using the iPhone as a level is just such an awesome idea of using the hardware to do something never imagined by the hardware vendor.

I use the phone app a lot.

TXTing & SMS apps

Clock - I've replaced my watch, and this one has an alarm I can set & changing time is easy.

Every morning I wake up to the alarm on the Clock app and I check the Weather app - those two are my favorite.

I'm surprised that no-one else has mentioned this, so I don't know if it's unique to me... but I get an incredibly annoying, recurring bug which causes any long page (a question, notifications, the home screen) to reset from where I'm reading and jump back to the top without warning.

This means I often have to scroll right back to the bottom and prompt the app to re-load the section I was up to.

Anyone else notice this?

Like many of you reading this, I’ve been looking for ways to earn money online in addition to my part-time job. But you know how it is – the internet is full of scams and shady-grady stuff, so I spent weeks trying to find something legit. And I finally did!

Freecash surprised me in all the right ways. I’ve earned over $1,000 in one month without ‘living’ on the platform. I was skeptical right up until the moment I cashed out to my PayPal.

What is Freecash all about?

Basically, it’s a platform that pays you for testing apps and games and completing surveys. This helps developers improve their applications while you make some money.

  • You can earn by downloading apps, testing games, or completing surveys. I love playing games, so that’s where most of my earnings came from (oh, and my favorites were Warpath, Wild Fish, and Domino Dreams).
  • There’s a variety of offers (usually, the higher-paying ones take more time).
  • Some games can pay up to $1,000 for completing a task, but these typically require more hours to finish.
  • On average, you can easily earn $30–50/day.
  • You pick your options — you’re free to choose whatever apps, games, and surveys you like.

Of course, it’s not like you can spend 5 minutes a day and become a millionaire. But you can build a stable income in reasonable time, especially if you turn it into a daily habit.

Why did I like Freecash?

  • It’s easy. I mean it. You don’t have to do anything complicated. All you need is to follow the task and have some free time to spend on it. For some reason, I especially enjoyed the game Domino Dreams. My initial goal was to complete chapter 10 to get my first $30, but I couldn’t stop playing and ended up completing chapter 15. It was lots of fun and also free money: $400 from that game alone.
  • No experience needed. Even if you’ve never done any ‘testing’ before, you can do this. You get straightforward task descriptions, so it’s impossible to go wrong. A task you might expect is something like: Download this game and complete all challenges in 14 days.
  • You can do it from anywhere. I was earning money while taking the bus, chilling on the couch, and during my breaks.
  • Fast cashing out. I had my earnings in my PayPal account in less than 1 day. I’m not sure how long it takes for other withdrawal methods (crypto, gift cards, etc.), but it should be fast as well.
  • You can earn a lot if you’re consistent. I’ve literally seen users in the Leaderboard making $3,000 in just one month. Of course, to get there, you need time, but making a couple of hundred dollars is really easy and relatively fast for anyone.

Don’t miss these PRO tips to earn more:

I feel like most users don’t know about these additional ways to make more money with Freecash:

  • Free promo codes: You can follow Freecash on social media to get weekly promo codes for free coins, which you can later exchange for money.
  • Daily rewards and bonuses: If you use the platform daily, you’ll get additional bonuses that help you earn more.
  • In-app purchases to speed up processes: While playing, you can buy items to help speed up task completion. It’s optional, but it really saved me time, and I earned 4x more than I spent.
  • Choose the highest-paying offers: Check New Offers and Featured Offers to get the best opportunities that pay the most.

Honestly, I still can’t believe I was able to earn this much so easily. And I’ve actually enjoyed the whole process. So, if you’re looking for some truly legit ways to earn money online, Freecash is a very good option.

My main gripe with the Quora app on the iPhone is it wastes so much space. It should look to Safari to see how screen space can be used more effectively. There's big ugly wasted strips of space at both the top and bottom of the screen.

And it really irritates me that the Question button is highlighted. It's distracting on the page and it makes it look like you're permanently on that page.

Here’s the thing: I wish I had known these money secrets sooner. They’ve helped so many people save hundreds, secure their family’s future, and grow their bank accounts—myself included.

And honestly? Putting them to use was way easier than I expected. I bet you can knock out at least three or four of these right now—yes, even from your phone.

Don’t wait like I did. Go ahead and start using these money secrets today!

Don’t wait like I did. Go ahead and start using these money secrets today!

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance

You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.

Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.

If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.

Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.

2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven

A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.

If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.

On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.

3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10

Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.

An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.

With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.

Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.

So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.

This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.

4. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous

The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.

Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.

Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.

When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.

It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.

5. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account

If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).

But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.

Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).

You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).

It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

5. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.

The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.

It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.

6. Lock In Affordable Term Life Insurance in Minutes.

Let’s be honest—life insurance probably isn’t on your list of fun things to research. But locking in a policy now could mean huge peace of mind for your family down the road. And getting covered is actually a lot easier than you might think.

With Best Money’s term life insurance marketplace, you can compare top-rated policies in minutes and find coverage that works for you. No long phone calls. No confusing paperwork. Just straightforward quotes, starting at just $7 a month, from trusted providers so you can make an informed decision.

The best part? You’re in control. Answer a few quick questions, see your options, get coverage up to $3 million, and choose the coverage that fits your life and budget—on your terms.

You already protect your car, your home, even your phone. Why not make sure your family’s financial future is covered, too? Compare term life insurance rates with Best Money today and find a policy that fits.

My favourite app is Relax Melodies. I use it to play at night to help me sleep. I have tinnitus very bad and being in a quiet room will bring my anxiety up. I play relaxing sounds to help give some background noise to help me sleep. I have used this app since 2014 and it plays all night and only takes about 10–15% of battery for about 5–7 hours of play. Without it ( did have a stay in a hospital ward for about a week) and couldn't sleep at all. On about the third day without sleep I asked for some kind of sedative. In a ward I couldn't play it because of other patience in the room.

While these are essential (for most), you’ve probably already decided on whether or not you’re going to download them.

Here are 5 must-have apps for your iPhone that you’ll want to download.

1. Google Maps (Free)

Sure, you have the official iPhone navigator app “Maps.” But if you want an app that fully delivers, add Google Maps to your list. Maps has been notorious for causing navigation problems, which none of us have the time or patience to deal with.

2. BillGuard (Free)

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t organize my finances as well as I should sometimes. This is why BillGuard is such a handy tool for iPhone users. Though it shares some of the same functions as a major bank app (Bank of America is mine for example and works fine), BillGuard goes further by helping you manage your spending habits. It’s geared toward keeping you aware of irregular spending and bills you need to pay for down the road. It will even notify you frequent charges for services you may not even use anymore.

3. Buffer (Free)

Want to be a social media whiz? Of course you (maybe) do. Buffer works a lot like Hootsuite. You can schedule Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus posts based on when they’ll be most effective. Want to tweet something at a time when most of your followers will be listening? Buffer measures this and assigns an appropriate time. You can even see the stats of your posts and see how they’ve performed.

4. Dashlane (Free)

If you like to buy things online, Dashlane is a must-have app for you. It automatically saves payment and confirmation info that would have otherwise been lost in your email. It allows you to keep track of your online spending and makes it easier for you to find your receipts (unless you’ve had the foresight to add things like tickets to your Passbook app). Dashlane is free, but the premium option is worth getting if you spend a lot online.

5. Zillow (Free)

I wish someone could have better prepared me for finding a place to live. Real estate is a cutthroat business, and I’ve often found myself at the mercy of websites that hide the best properties from you for their own interest (or lack of information). Zillow is a godsend, as a result of this. The app crawls pretty much every property and real estate in your area, ranging from buying to renting. It proceeds to give you the information you need to get in touch with the property owner or leasing office, and the simple design makes all of this a breaks.

What, to you, is the “overall function of an iPhone”? That it make phone calls? Do email or text-messaging? Run Facebook? Twitter? iOS? Play games?

This is software, curated by Apple. I seriously doubt any software on the App Store is going to “harm” an iPhone’s electronics.

Or the software currently running on the iPhone may occupy the chip for long periods, but it stops as soon as you move to another app.

So, that’s an extraordinary claim. Do you have any extraordinary proof there’s any harm whatsoever?

I would like the idea of being able to awaken things when ready.

Apps can go to sleep until the lock screen is unlocked, but many of us can not shut off our minds for a period of time until we are ready to use our mind.

That is a feature I wouldn't mind seeing in everyday life from an app

I, like many others, love the UI design of the Clear app. This visionary UI/UX can lead to new behaviors being adopted in other apps (similar to how pull-to-refresh was with Tweetie). For practicality's sake, I won't focus on the lack of syncing options (which should, and probably will, be added at some point). My biggest concern is the usability and lack of intuitiveness in parts of the app. First and foremost, a fair share of the features are not intuitive (and sometimes not discoverable) for the average iOS user including, but not limited to:

  1. How to create a new task (which can be done three different ways).
  2. How to clear a task vs. marking a task as complete.
  3. How to go back (most users are accustomed to a "Back" button).

For iOS advanced users, this app is both beautiful and bleeding-edge. If that's their market, they'll kill it. Of course, advanced users will demand more advanced features that will be difficult to implement without ruining the simplicity of the app (e.g. syncing, sharing/collaborating, etc.).

On the other hand, if they're trying to go after the average iOS user, I would say they need to work on improving the UX by making actions more intuitive and eliminating actions that may confuse or polarize users.

Here are some reviews of the app from major web publications:

It's simple, not a ton of features, just the right amount of functionality and fits well for those who are practicing GTD. Also they won some Apple Design award for the product.

I use Dropbox to sync across multiple Macs.

I use the little telephone icon to make phone calls.

Safari gets a lot of workout, mostly for Google searches.

I know people are going to call me crazy, but to my mind: making phone calls is the killer App for iPhones.

I also use the alarm clock. I occasionally use the calculator and calendar.

Other than that, there’s “Candy Crush”, which I don’t play that often, and I have to be pretty bored.

My phone is mainly for communicating with people, so communication apps like Messages, Phone, Slack, Whatsapp, Telegram and Facebook Messenger are the most useful to me.

Special vote goes out to Safari, the mobile internet browser.

Also, lately I’ve been using ChatGPT app quite a bit, so this should fit on this list somewhere as well.

I’m not too sure if entertainment fits under “useful” category, but if it does, the overall winner is Tiktok for me. Probably the best entertainment app ever made. No other comes even close :)

This is the story of my life. I have no sense of direction at all. I drive and walk around in desperate circles; it is safe to say I am never really certain where I am. Just different shades of lost.

I stepped away from my coworkers at lunch the other day to buy some smokes 2 blocks away. I returned 45 minutes later to find my lunch in a box and my coworkers wondering what the hell is wrong with me.

I've tried navigation software with mixed results, especially when walking. I gather that GPS works best the faster you're moving because it detects a doppler shift in signals coming from satellites. Or something. All I know is, on foot, no GPS software on my iPhone could accurately tell me where I am and what direction I'm facing.

Which is weird, because Apple's compass app works fine.

After getting lost again yesterday (12/12/12) taking a coworker to breakfast, I posed this question in desperation :

What is the best iPhone navigation app for walking?

A mere 12 hours later, I didn't just get an answer.

I got a miracle.

Google Maps for iPhone was released.

Jesse Hollington's answer to What is the best iPhone navigation app for walking?

4 AM. I downloaded it. I fired it up. It's awesome. It's beyond awesome.

Standing in my hotel room, it knows exactly where I am. I type in the name of the place I had breakfast. Bang, found. I turn my body 15 degrees, the map instantly turns with me. Drop to 3D view and it's pointing the way to go.

Go to street view, and I can see the diner and sweep the world around it by turning the phone. On a sluggish old iPhone 3G.

Pull up a tab, and I can read reviews of the place. Share it out to facebook.

I've only played with it a half hour. This is no app. It's a revelation.

Thank you, Google. Thank you.

I once was lost.

But now I'm found.

Going back a bit but the compass and leveller apps that came with an iPhone I thought were the most thoughtful features to come for an iPhone. If you were out walking a trail or driving and got disorientated you could use the compass on the phone to get were you needed to be. The leveller was a must use app I found when I was redecorating a room. I didn't have a plum bob or level at hand but whipping out my iPhone at the time did the trick . I later checked its accuracy and it was spot on.

Personally i would actually increase the thickness of the phone therefore allowing for Larger batteries to be fitted inside which would ultimately last longer between charges, together with other reasons Apple quote of not having enough space inside the phone to include various components. Even though I don’t use earphones or headphones there would be space for the headphone jack. I would also change the lightning port to USBc ensuring Thunderbolt compatability Ensuring that all data could be exported and imported (A problem Apple have on there new iPad) (I only know because I purchased the new 12.9“ iPad recently). This would also ensure that every part of the Apple eco system is compatable, I don’t see the point in having 2 different style of ports one lightning and one USBc as I have. I realise this will upset some lightning port users because various leads etc. would become obsolete (I have also had to dispose of many lightning accessories) however i the long run i am sure it would have be better long term benefits. There is talk of using a combined access security system by using both Face ID and a new fingerprint sensor, fitted below the screen accessed by using your fingerprint anywhere on the screen. I think the combination of 2 security features working in harmony would be beneficial for security. I would also find a way of removing the notch as they have on the 2018 iPad, There is already the technology out there to accomplish this as demonstrated by other phone manufacturers placing it below the screen. I would also fit OLED screens to all iPhones. One feature I use a lot is taking a screenshot and having to press two buttons on the edge of my iPhone is a crazy method, I know there is a workaround using accessibility in settings which leaves a grey circle permanently screen but this sometimes gets in the way by covering or hiding other icons in many apps, this could be accomplished by a icon being permanently available possibly at one end of the task bar. Another problem I come up against on my iPad not iPhone, is not having enough RAM for image manipulation purposes, as good as the iPads RAM management system is I regularly have problems on a tablet that Apple classes is for proffesionals hence the name iPad Pro. .

Moddable Control center.

yep. This thing.

I want the ability to relocate the upper blocks as I please. That is: Toggles, Music controls, Volume/brightness, Airplay and DND/lock rotate.

zdownload+ (old version) I love this app because with the help of this i can download anything from Google. As you know that Apple browser Safari doesn't allow us to download anything from Google. But new update of this app also don't allow us to download. And that's why we need Jailbreak the iPhone .

It’s basically a 1-to-1 calling app to connect blind people and volunteers. You sign up as either a blind person or a volunteer and register the language you speak.

As a blind person, you make a phone call when necessary to let someone random help you out.

As a volunteer, you just wait for the calls. When received a call, you pick it up and help the blind person at the end of the line through voice. Even if you are not available, someone else will pick it up. No worry. You can see what the blind person wants you to see through the camera. These are examples of the tiny volunteer works I’ve done through this app.

  • To read aloud the guidance on the package of instant food.
  • Tech support to let the person log in LINE, the most popular messaging app in Japan, on PC.
  • To check if there are rice grains on the floor. He said he stepped on a few and wanted to pick them all up if there are more.
  • To tell her what’s a piece of paper posted in her mailbox. It was just an ad flyer, so she didn’t want me to read it.
  • To tell the set temperature on a controller of AC.
  • To tell him what’s on the shelf on the convenience store he’s in. He didn’t want to mess up and drop products by touching them around.

Both are kept anonymous and most calls end in a few minutes.

To be honest with you, I had been ignorant enough not to imagine how blind people are confused and frustrated by these kinds of small but important tasks. They may or may not have someone to help them like their family and caregiver, but they should be hesitant to disturb them every time they get in small trouble. But if they have tens of thousands of anonymous people waiting for their calls to help them out, and they don’t need to feel like they are a burden on someone, because volunteers just don’t pick it up if they are not available, their life should be a lot easier.

This app is completely free for both sides. I’m truly grateful for the developers and admins of this app.

Here is an introduction video of Be My Eyes.

Easily 1 Second Everyday: Video Diary on the App Store

The concept is that you take a one second video of a cool experience you had that day, and at the end of the year you have a six minute clip that captures all the great things you did that year.

This is literally the only app that I believe everyone should try, and the best part is that it only takes one second each day.
