One of the best business forum's is the Young Entrepreneur which is very helpful for anyone seeking ideas, information or help. Start Up Nation is another where you are able to get good resources. If you are starting a small business there is the Small Business Forums where you are able to learn a lot of information from their Q&A. Then there is Admin Zone which helps you to learn on how to get your connections through social media. There are lots and lots of them out there, but few are pretty good for anyone new to business.
Where do I start?
I’m a huge financial nerd, and have spent an embarrassing amount of time talking to people about their money habits.
Here are the biggest mistakes people are making and how to fix them:
Not having a separate high interest savings account
Having a separate account allows you to see the results of all your hard work and keep your money separate so you're less tempted to spend it.
Plus with rates above 5.00%, the interest you can earn compared to most banks really adds up.

Here is a list of the top savings accounts available today. Deposit $5 before moving on because this is one of the biggest mistakes and easiest ones to fix.
Overpaying on car insurance
You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.
If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.
Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.
That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.
Consistently being in debt
If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.
Here’s how to see if you qualify:
Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.
It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.
Missing out on free money to invest
It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.
Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.
Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.
Having bad credit
A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.
From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.
Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.
How to get started
Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:
Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus
Fix your credit

Businesses cannot join communities. Your local pizza parlor doesn't walk itself into a chamber of commerce meeting, does it? No - the owner of said pizza parlor goes to the meeting.
Communities are full of human beings. You can represent your brand and still be a human being, but trying to have a real conversation as a brand is not going to work nearly as well.
Example: When I first joined UserVoice, I experimented with using the @UserVoice handle on Twitter to engage with discussions around customer service and feedback. I got very few responses. As soon as I dived in as @evanhamilton, I starte

Example: When I first joined UserVoice, I experimented with using the @UserVoice handle on Twitter to engage with discussions around customer service and feedback. I got very few responses. As soon as I dived in as @evanhamilton, I started getting genuine responses. I now do all my engaging on behalf of UserVoice as myself (which has the added benefit of protecting the brand somewhat if I say something dumb [which I never do, of course]). Would you be as engaged with this answer if it was from "UserVoice" and had a bullhorn for an avatar? I suspect not.
In my heart is S.T.A.L.K.E.R
Despite the game being buggy and very old.
This game is still relevant. Time after time I would see this game being talked about in 4chan. Has been the source of some juicy memes and stuff.
The great thing about this game is that the community loves it to death. There are thousands of mods that improve the base game and there have been events inspired by Stalker.

This mod won mod of the year once. And it earned it! Imagine all three maps of the Stalker games stitched into one giant game with factions that change alliances over time, Random events and tons of replay value!
I sometimes lose track of time playing this mod. And every so often I would play this mod. I keep coming back for it.
I also forgot to mention these other mods:
MISERY and Call of MISERY.
This mod made me fall in love with S.TA.L.K.E.R all over again. It overhauls the entire game and makes it unforgiving as fuck!
I recently downloaded it and started playing a few weeks ago. And damn it is hard especially if you have been playing Fast-Paced FPS. Misery begs you to take your time and punishes you for being rash and pretending to be Rambo.
The weaker mutants are fucking terrifying. Misery will make you want to avoid confrontation. A simple Boar is enough to kill you if you are not careful. Ammunition is fucking scarce and it seems food is rarer than fresh air.
No wonder people compare Misery to Dark souls.
Misery adds many items in the game. Healing isn’t spontaneous and needs you to sit down. (Unless you have stimpacks but they cost more than a kidney)
It truly brings out the depressing nature of Stalker. You life and economic status is heavily dependent on the amount of quests you take.
It made me feel like this:
Next mod is Arsenal Overhaul. It takes the shitty and badly synced guns of Stalker and makes them realistic and sound sooooo good!
Example 2. Presence in Youtube.
Lore videos, discussions and fan skits keep the game alive in the minds of many.
Example 3. General Fandom.
The fans of this game are very passionate. And I can attest to that since I was part of it for a very long time! And this game has inspired lots of games like Metro 2033 and Escape from Tarkov.
Also I forgot to mention the Airsoft Community and Stalker. Or the LARP people.
Do I really need to explain why this makes the Stalker community so fucking cool?!
Now get out of here Stalker!
Building a flourishing community around your brand is never going to be a simple exercise. It takes strategy and a significant amount of hard work to tap into what makes your particular audience tick.
The community was built around a niche
Niche communities around interests and hobbies are thriving. Gaming, fitness, technology, travel, DIY, fashion – brands and influencers have created thriving communities around peoples’ shared interests and passions. The common thread throughout the online communities that succeed is that they provide genuine value and put their members’ needs first.

It started small
When we look at famous examples of brands that built thriving communities around their brands – like Harley Davidson, Nike, Playstation, Adidas, Glow, Gymshark, and others – it may be daunting to imagine trying to build an equally successful community.
The community wasn’t worried about having millions of members in the beginning. It started small, appealing to the individual instead of the group.
Marketing mastermind Seth Godin speaks of finding the smallest viable audience and appealing to that tiny audience with laser focus instead of trying to cater to the masses.
What all successful communities have in common is:
- They bring people together by focusing on their shared interests and appealing to their passions and values.
- They serve their customers’ real needs and solve their problems rather than simply talking about how great their product is.
Remember, when your customers become loyal fans of your brand they’ll happily create user-generated content telling the world how great your product or service is.
The community has a strong identity
Communities grow around shared values and passions. They’ve taken the time to nail down what they stand for, and the type of community members they wish to attract.
They create value
Strong communities have stepped up their content game. Create content that helps, inspires, entertains, and educates.
They drive engagement
While some communities will thrive on their own as community members create content, share anecdotes, ask each other questions and give advice (think makeup forums featuring video tutorials and reviews), most will need an occasional nudge to drive engagement.
Some tactics include:
- Hosting events and competitions
- Posting polls and asking questions
- Educational resources such as blogs, podcasts, and videos.
Great communities interact with and recognize community members
They actually interact with their members. They ask for and listen to their suggestions and find ways to recognize the achievements and contributions of community members. This strengthens loyalty and imparts status, which in turn inspires other community members to participate.

Thats it for me! I believe it's best to stick to a small number of groups and grow there before moving on to others if you try to be a part of 10 different groups, you'll quickly find that you aren't giving each the attention it needs and the benefits you receive will decrease.

‘Meetup’ is certainly one such effective & active online platform/group for all interested parties to lead a social life. This platform is not limited to just entrepreneurs, you will find audience under different groups for all relevant interests out of everybody’s lives.
Talking about Entrepreneurs - the best of the ones are certainly self starters, they hunt their notions well, to find their audience - be it anywhere :) Cheers!
I've enjoyed the communities I've found on Google Plus, and made some great connections there. In general, they're very supportive and interactive. Check out "Plus Your Business", "Plus Your Life", "Create, Innovate, and Thrive in Your Business", and "Business Besties".
I try to stay away from the really big communities, since you don't actually get to know individuals as well in them.
Also, I like haunting the Hangouts On Air and swapping comments with other folks. My current favorite is Mia Voss's "Mia Connect".

👉BigCommerce forum - not just good if you’re using BigCommerce but great for general discussions as well!
👉eCommerce Fuel - it’s made for 7-figure eCommerce founders but is an epic group I have heard (unfortunately not in there). It looks really good if you’re an experienced eCommerce founder to be with other like-minded founders.
These above are without a doubt the standouts + the most active (and most helpful). Of course there’s lots of other communities which are more niche depending on the specific problems, solutions, etc you’re looking for. However, these are some of the best for eCommerce as a whole!
I hope this helps :)
- Like defining target demographics in traditional marketing, the first step is to define existing communities that share your brands values and passion.
- Before an existing community can become part of your brand community, you have to become a member of their community. You as a person, not as a representative of your brand.
- Like Rosemary explained, be helpful. Reply to peoples questions, share your knowledge.
- Identify and get to know the key persons of that community. Understand their values and what drives them to be active within the community.

- Identify what the community is missing. What are common frustrations? What could be changed to make the community go forward?
- Identify these same things for the key persons within the community. What are their dreams, things they want to achieve within the community? What keeps them from achieving these things?
- Once you understand what a community and it’s individuals are missing, identify what you or your business can do to help.
- Discuss these frustrations/problems/ideas/opportunities with the community and offer your help. Or throw in ideas yourself, mentioning your brand and see how people react to that idea and the fact your brand could be involved.
- From these discussions, identify members who are motivated to participate or even lead the project.
- From day 1 on the project make sure every step is documented publicly somewhere. Be it on the project website, the community’s website or your brand’s website (or other channels). The story of the project should be told by a community member. If that’s not possible, tell the story yourself - in your name, not as a brand employee.
- Make sure everyone who’s actively involved in the project get’s exposure. Make them proud to participate and make other community members want to participate on this or future projects. Or even come up with their own project ideas.
- Keep in mind that when you communicate you don’t describe the project as your brand’s initiative, but as a community effort of which you and your brand are part of. (example: Google's '20% time')
- Also keep in mind throughout every project: Every member of that community is a potential collaborator. If not on this project, it might be the next one or the one after that. It takes time to ‘activate’ a community member to become a contributor or even initiative taker.
- If the community is missing a key player to do a particular task on a project: Don’t bring in someone external to the community yourself. That will feel very intrusive. Try to find someone within the community or ask them if they know someone.
Feel free to give your reflections on this. I'm curious to get your ideas or finding about this as I'm writing a book on this very topic; bringing brands and communities together. :-)

“Hello guys, i’m the one in the Thor. Nice to meet y’all. I’m carrying a PPC with me but that means i can’t afford getting flanked. Can someone watch my back?”
“Hey man. Nice to meet ya too. Oh hey, the one in the Madcat, i’m going to proceed into line six-five. As soon as i fire, go flank that Catapult over there, then we go right to the camp.”
“Kay den, i will provide cover fire. Watch your six! Bushwacker, you got LRMs? I got like, 15 of them left. So i’m going blitz after i exhaust ‘em. Stay with the Thor.”
In all my gaming life, i’ve never seen such a game community this good. In a team based game, the players are actually working as a team. Everyone is working on the objective, and plan accordingly. There are almost no toxic players, and everyone is on the cool head even though they are under pressure. It’s almost surreal.
But then again, it’s probably because of the people who played this game are mostly not angsty, raging teenagers. The number of players might not be much, but they are there in healthy numbers.
Truly, it’s one of the best gaming community i’ve seen. One of the saving grace of this game.

As I am a passionate lover of marketing, I joined one such community which is so informative and worth being part of. Xpert is the community about which I am speaking. It’s an online marketing community for working professionals who wish to upskill and evolve in the marketing career. They have handpicked industry experts from different backgrounds, who we consider as role models in marketing career. We look up to them as they had achieved milestones in marketing. So for me, I believe it's best to stick to a small number of groups and grow there before moving on to others if you try to be a part of 10 different groups, you'll quickly find that you aren't giving each the attention it needs and the benefits you receive will decrease. So join communities which are worth joining and grow there once you decide to jump to another. Hope my answer helped. Good Luck.

Now, Jimmy here, after playing with some mods and the single-player campaign, decides to try out multiplayer, the pinnacle of Arma III. “Oh hey, what’s this Zeus thingy? Let’s try this.”
Jimmy later discovers what Zeus is, and starts making friends that play Bohemia’s Servers. Once enraptured by Singleplayer, he now spends his every waking moment in the servers. Now, it’s not great at all times. But Jimmy knows that it’s worth it, for the good moments.

Oh, eCommerce forums and communities are a gold mine of useful information. I know so many successful entrepreneurs who name Facebook groups as the main source of the latest news and best tips.
To name just a few groups:
Brilliant eCommerce Facebook group
Growth marketing Facebook group
Reddit Ecommerce thread: r/ecommerce
Shopify forum
I would recommend also retail reddit thread.
Good luck!
I like the Inc. magazine forum. There are a couple of groups related to business that are on LinkedIn that I belong to and gain from reading that are in my field. I had to try out several groups before I found the ones that best fit me, but it was worth the time I spent. There are also some individual groups on Facebook related to specific areas of business that I have found very helpful. For example, people who use Ryan Deiss’ products can belong to Digital Marketer and the forum is incredibly helpful and supportive.
Finding the ones that work for you will be trial and error.

One of the most common online business ideas around, starting an e-commerce store is relatively easy and cheap — at least when compared to opening up a brick-and-mortar store.

Option 2: Tutoring
If you’re into online business ideas for beginners that revolve around calling or video chatting clients to help them out with various problems, then starting a tutoring business is another path to consider.
For those studious entrepreneurs who score highly on standardized tests, understand how to teach the best test-taking strategies and know their material inside and out, tutoring can pull in a lot of money without too much effort. The better your results, the greater your reputation — which means the more you can charge per hour, session, or package.
Plus, with these online small business ideas — business coaching, college consulting and tutoring — you’re essentially dedicating your time and energy to helping other people achieve some of life’s biggest goals. Coupled with the freedom of working from anywhere you want, that’s a pretty compelling job.
Option 3: Freelance coding and web design
Notice a trend yet? Lots of jobs you could be doing in an office for one company, you could also be doing for a bunch of different clients whenever and however you want.
If you’re a software engineer, the perks of working at a startup or tech giant are pretty sizable, but if you’re more invested in flexibility, diversity of projects, taking on work at your own pace and the freedom of being your own boss, then freelance coding is one of the best online business ideas from home. Whether you’re into web design — an especially popular freelance coding category — or another kind of software development, it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to find clients you’re interested in helping out.
Plus, you can double down as a software consultant as well, offering your critical eye and expertise without necessarily coding.

Community.
Period. Lots of perspectives and lists. Bottom line, an online community is nothing more than a website that fosters a community… if you don’t have the community (people), you don’t have a community.
As for what they do there? That entirely depends does it not? Chat, share photos, form groups, trade recipes….
The mistake almost every business or startup makes trying to be a community, is solving for a feature not the function. No “right” features (characteristics) will make a community great, terrible, succeed, nor fail.
No people, no community.
