What information is being sent back to the server via AJAX. Keep in mind that AJAX could be sending your mouse coordinates back to the server, mouseover image etc..
Then you will need to write a script in a language of your choosing to mimic that of a a real visitor. I doubt PHP could do the job.
Be sure all the headers you send to the server will pass scrutiny.

A common business justification for this practice is that it allows search engine robots - which generally do not run JavaScript - to find all of the content on a website. And what is good for robots is good for archiving.
The traditional method of associating URLs with content is to create a special page for each piece of content that can be loaded without JavaScript. Links in the application that display that content have their href attribute pointed to that special page. When the user clicks on one of those links the href might be ignored while the content is loaded and displayed without a page refresh. But a robot would just follow the href. This is called the "parallel universe" of content because the user may never see those special pages. For these types of sites all that you need to do is to is crawl links in the traditional manner.
A more recent idea was recently codified in a Google specification, "http://code.google.com/web/ajaxcrawling/". This is an extension of associating a URL with a hash with some dynamic state of the web application. For example, you might see a URL like this somewhere: http://somesite.com/blog-posts#page=3. Any modern browser can update the portion of the URL after the # while the user is on a page without reloading the page. So that URL can be updated whenever the user does something so that if the user goes back to the same URL they will find themselves at the same spot where they left off. But it is not possible for a robot or an archiver to crawl these URLs because the application state is reconstructed in JavaScript after the page loads. The Google proposal is a convention for mapping such "dynamic" URLs to traditional URLs that can be crawled. Any website that has a bang after the hash (#!) in the URL is probably using this practice. A currently live example is Twitter.
To archive content from one of these sites you will need to read up on the spec to program your archive utility to translate URLs containing a #! appropriately and to replace href values that point to dynamic URLs with their non-dynamic counterparts.
If a site is not well designed and uses a lot of ajax I don't know if there is much that you can do. You might try looking for a sitemap to see if there are crawlable versions of pages on the site that are not linked to for some reason. You can also try using a tool like Selenium to automate clicking on everything on the page and to save whatever you get. But that approach is likely to be more trouble than it is worth. I suppose that your best bet would be to bug the site admin to adopt better web architecture practices. Tell them it is good for SEO and maybe that will be convincing.
