And just chill, GATE is not tough. :)
If you are from general category,you have a very little chance of m.tech in iit. you can try for M.S or direct PH.D in any of the iit/iisc. If not iit, you have a good chance in NIT for other courses like materials engineering, turbo machinery, data science.
If you have any quota, you have a good chance of getting in iit kanpur( you have to write entrance), iit kharagpur and you will be called for M.S interview in iisc, iit (madras,kanpur,bombay).Also you can apply for NIT too.

Here few M.Tech students leave the course in between for PSU's now this is an additional advantage of giving Gate. Now if we talk about placements Machine Design and Cad Cam & Robotics grabbed the most number of placements. In Machine Design except one student everyone got placed. In C.C.R except 3 students all are placed till now

Few more companies visited but since they were late and most students of Machine Design and C.C.R were placed till that time therefore they didn't got suitable candidate according to their requirement. Those companies are Hi-Tech Robotics Ltd, L&T, Oceaneering, Inteva, Hyundai motors, etc. I can't recall all the names right now. But they too came to hire M.Tech from mechanical.
Note: All companies came for R&D profile.
Talking about universities then there were many like KIIT, DIT, GALGOTIAS, AMITY etc. and etc.
So this is the whole scenario of placement in M.Tech mechanical at IIT R. Few more might get placed as some companies are still visiting.
The placement percentage of Post graduates this year is 60 percent (including 5 students who got PSU this year after registering for an on-campus placement ) whereas for Undergraduates it is 64 percent( they are also allowed and preferred in many service based, IT based, business analyst based and software companies).
Now this was the whole story of placements in IIT R till now. The stats of other IITs like Kgp, Delhi, Bombay, Madras, kanpur and IISc is definitely gonna be better compared to IIT R .

You just have to top one of the well recognized examination 'JEE Advance ' . But it is not a piece of cake . Getting into IIT BOMBAY ( IITB ) especially CSE branch is the dream of every JEE aspirant . Only very few of them ( around 60 , if we talk about general category ) are able to reach that level .
So , work hard . There is no alternative of hard work .

Yes, you can get admission to an aeronautical engineering program at IITs through the GATE EC (Electronics and Communication Engineering) exam.
I am a mtech student in IITB. There are several students in our batch who are from a non CSE background. Cracking GATE CSE is not tough at all. All you need is a lot of practice. Solve as many questions as you can. Since your bachelors is not from CS, I recommend you to take up a coaching class for GATE.
If you love CS, then changing branch is totally worth it. One year is a lot of time. 6 months of learning courses and 6 months of dedicated practice to questions (people ignore this, they just learn and don't practice much) can get you a rank < 10 :)

There are certain areas, you can specialize in, for your masters’ degree. In IITB there are Communications and Signal Processing, Control, Power, Microelectronics and Electronic systems. The so called ‘cutoff’ depends a lot on your specialization. (e.g.- The cutoff for microelectronics and VLSI tends to be highest in most of the IITs).
2. The Interview Conundrum:
Back when I applied in 2013, the scenario was like following-
1. IIT Madras had a good amount of MS intake through test+interview. Their MTech intake was based on GATE score only.
2. IIT Kharagapur, Delhi and Kanpur all used to conduct interviews (No tests).
3. IIT Bombay took TAs directly based on GATE score and recruited some RAs through test+interview.
4. IISc, EE/ECE dept had admission based on gate score, although IISc CEDT/DESE used to have test+interview.
****In all the above cases, initial shortlisting were based on GATE score only.
3. The ‘Cut-off’ Confusion :
In here I will randomly throw numerical/statistical information. The information will be solely based on 2013/2014 admission stats.
a. IIT Bombay :
MTech TA -
MicroElectronics (AIR upto 30)/
Electronic Systems (AIR upto 65)/
Communications (AIR upto 80)/
Power Electronics and Power Systems (AIR upto 100)/
Control and Computing (AIR upto 220)
MTech RA-
In 2013 ranks up to 900–1000 were called in for test. The final selection is based on GATE score+ Test Performance+ Interview Performance. So, there were people with 200 AIR who did not get shortlisted and people with 900 AIR who got selected in MicroElectronics.
b. IIT Kanpur :
Exactly upto 350 AIR (EE GATE) were called in for the interview (any specialization). They also had some final selection criteria based on GATE score+interview performance.
c. IIT Delhi :
I do NOT have a lot of information. Although I remember, people with AIR upto 150–175 were called in for interview. They tend to give more weight towards the gate score in their final selection as far as I know.
d. IIT Madras :
MTech : Upto 200 AIR people got direct admission offer (If you include less-popular specializations like Photonics).
MS: They called people securing upto 800 AIR for the tests.
e. IIT Kharagpur:
Interview was organized for people with upto 350–400 AIR.
Cutoff depends on
- The reservation category.

I am not sure. Need to verify. But I think CSE guys can apply for. MTech in Dynamics nd control under aerospace engineering. Nd if you appear specifically in Aerospace engineering GATE, then all specialization will open for you.
But I advice not to go for Aerospace being a CSE student. Because CSE has already good Placements in IITs. Nd aerospace has very less core jobs.

It depends on your branch. As you didn't mention subject code it's impossible to predict although I can assure you previous academic record wouldn't hamper your chance anyhow to get in IIT for M.Tech.

You should do your mechanical engineering or bio medical engineering as then you can major in avionics or aerodynamics and various fields in your masters.
Best option will be mechanical engineering. But if you want to try something different then bio med can be an option too.

Ones which I know does not allow are IISc, IITKgp. There might be other related branches in these institutes in which you might be eligible so better check the brochures.
No, at least not from a reputed Indian Institute(IITs or top NITs) because B.Tech in Aerospace gets mentioned in mandatory requirements for doing Masters in Aerospace though the opposite branch change(Aerospace to CS) is totally possible in most of the top IITs. Now, to study Masters you can apply to any of the reputed universities in the US or Europe, they don’t have such requirements.

One of my friends did his B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering but took GATE 2013 in CSE, went on to join IIT Bombay for his masters in CSRE department (you need a very high rank to get IITB CSE) and later on, got placed in J.P. Morgan.
The catch here is, you have to take GATE in CSE.
YES, but you shall remain unemployed after your MTech-Aerospace program because there is no demand of any MTech degree holders in the industry because Indian engineering curriculum is 40 years old.
