- Acquire new users (for free, as stated in your question)

(I was asked to answer this question.)
OK, I've put 20 minutes on an egg timer, and I'm starting to write.
So how I think about these things is using Dave McClure's AARRR framework. We'll leave revenue out - you're not there yet.
So you have the following goals:
- Acquire new users (for free, as stated in your question)
- Bring the users back (probably through some sort of permission marketing channel)
- Get users to tell their friends (because events are quintessentially social) about the event, and thus the site.
Now one way to think about this is that acquisition is the problem. This isn't my approach - I believe these three goals are completely intertwined.
Segmentation
When you don't have money to spend on acquisition, horizontal plays are very hard, because you'll need to leverage word of mouth (both online and offline) within a segment to get serious traction.
Rather than focusing on all events, I would make some sort of decision around segmentation - I see you have categories on the side of your homepage:
- Meeting New People
- Date Ideas
- Hanging Out With Friends
- Kids and Family
I'd do some data analysis and user interviews and try to find which of these is the most popular and produces the most gratified users. This gives you a very direct marketing path to go down - in terms of media pitching, social marketing, etc. - you become "a hub for date ideas", or "the place to figure out what to do with your kids this weekend", or something of that nature, rather than an events website. (Don't worry, you can go into those other segments after you get traction in one.)
I'd choose date ideas because of the level of consumer pain, with family events a close second. (Services to meet new people via the internet in non-dating contexts doesn't seem like a promising path, and hanging out with friends is a completely natural segment to conquer after date ideas.) I also see both of these as having the greatest monetization potential, due to the large adjacent internet businesses serving the same audiences (dating sites, and the ever growing world of family-focused internet companies.)
However, the social context of these trips is VERY VERY different, and this will dramatically affect how you want to build social share actions into the product. (I'll return to this in the Referral section.)
Acquisition
Based on your segmentation and your positioning, you can start working on acquisition. (I don't recommend working heavily on acquisition until you get a solid 'must have' score via Customer Development Survey or anther methodology.)
Since we've ruled out paid channels, we'll look at:
- organic search
- press
- social referrals (to be dealt with in a later section)
We'll start with press. Once you have a solid segment and position, you can begin approaching press. I'd go with local (SF bay) press and tech press(which has a very solid overlap with SF bay press). There's lots of great articles about how to pitch press - like How To Get Media Coverage For Your Startup: A Complete Guide and How I Pitched @TechCrunch And 13 Ways To Get Press When You Launch Your Startup. This topic has been well covered there.
The other angle is organic search. I'd go to Keyword suggestion tool - Google suggest scraper - Übersuggest and start (to use the date ideas example) by looking at "SF date ideas".
I see suggestions like:
- free sf date ideas
- sf first date ideas
- sf double date ideas
You can build landing pages out around these terms that feature events from your database, and build links to them (I recommend press and reaching out to bloggers and influencers) to get them to rank well in search engines.
Retention
Once you have a user on your site having a good experience, you can retain them for future engagement. I suggest collecting emails and sending people alerts about future date ideas (in the date ideas case.) You can test the most effective time to send people date ideas - maybe start with Wednedsay morning against Thursday morning.
Referral/Sharing
This, to me, is the most interesting potential part of your web app. People don't go to events by themselves - it's a social thing. You might try adding a pre-populated tweet box asking "Has anyone been to [$EVENTNAME]? - [link to event on even droid] What did you think?"
(This will depend deeply on your segmentation - people's social behavior around kid activities versus friend activities versus date activities is dramatically different, so you'll want to play with different networks and calls to action.)
Hope this helps - happy to answer questions in the comments.

1. Search engine optimization
SEO is the process of increasing your website’s visibility in search engine’s organic results through optimizing your pages with the keyword phrases people are likely to search for. Think about it: when you search for something in Google, do you typically go beyond the first couple pages of results? Probably not, and neither will your potential customers.
Some popular ways to improve organic search results are through editing existing content, removing barriers to indexing activities of search engines, increasing the number of back links or inbound links (links your website receives from other webpages -- which indicates the popularity or importance of your website).
SEO can be a time-consuming process initially, but it’s an important step towards getting more traffic and grabbing a top spot in search engines for your main keyword phrases. If you haven’t already optimized your website for search engines, it might take several months to see significant results with SEO.
2. Blogging and guest blogging
Offering free, original content on your site can help bring new visitors and set you apart from the competition. However, writing for other prominent blogs in your niche, is even more beneficial in generating traffic. By including a link to your website in your biography at the end of your guest post, you can draw in new visitors from a source that likely gets much more traffic than your current blog or website.
3. Pay per click (PPC)
Use PPC Internet advertising to bring in traffic to your website from search engines like Google. Here’s how it works: you pay a fixed price for every click your ad gets in the search engine, and your ultimate goal of the click is to convert that user in order to see a return on investment. With GoogleAdWords, there’s no spending requirement -- you can set a budget of as little as five dollars a day or a maximum cost of ten cents for each click.
4. Retargeting
Retargeting ads work by placing a tracking cookie on each of your visitor’s computers. Then, when they leave your site, they start seeing ads to come back. Using this type of advertising helps you reach visitors who leave without conversion -- which is about 98 percent of all your traffic -- and makes retargeting a valuable strategy in getting those visitors to come back and convert. You’ve already worked hard to get people there, but most leave...so get them to come back to make sure you’re not throwing away that money you’ve already spent.
5. Facebook ads
Millions of people use Facebook every day (they had 483 million daily active users in December 2011) and the average U.S. Facebook user spends eight hours per month (on the site. And it’s not only popular with teenagers and college students -- all types of demographics are now regular users of the social network. Additionally, according to a study from Nielsen, people are 68 percent more likely to remember seeing an ad with social context than without. Facebook ads can help you target people from a specific location, friends of your current fans, or even folks who “like” other pages, among other options such as age and interests. Plus, it’s a cost-effective way to bring in new traffic -- you can set a daily budget, pay for clicks, or pay when people see your ad. Similar to Google AdWords, you’re piggybacking off of Facebook’s traffic in order to bring those visitors to your website.
6. YouTube
Creating videos and posting them to YouTube can help your content get found on YouTube itself. From there, not only does Google index your content, but others can embed your video on their blogs and share it via social media. Although going “viral” is certainly desirable, it’s important to remember that not every video needs to get a million views to successfully drive traffic to your website. Instead, focus on a call to action that tells viewers exactly where to go (your website), how to do it (link), and why to do it (free content, contest, etc.) once they’ve finished watching.
You can also advertise on other people’s videos by buying targeted ads relevant to your business -- which could yield a high conversion.
7. Email marketing
Email marketing is a great tool because most people need to be engaged multiple times before they buy. It’s been around for years, and is still one of the strongest ways to engage potential and current customers. Give people a compelling reasons to subscribe (contests, great content, insider information, etc.) and then continually send great content so they don’t unsubscribe. Encourage them to return to your website on a regular basis by showing them what they’ve missed since they last visited -- perhaps it’s a new product, blog posts, whitepapers, videos, or something else.
8. Word of mouth (forums/Facebook fan pages, etc.)
When you’re looking for a new salon to get a haircut, or a great restaurant in a neighboring town, you probably turn to trusted friends, family, or online sources to discover the best rated and reviewed options. These sources are key points for driving traffic for your website, too. Focus on building connections with your fans and followers in order to gain positive reviews and word of mouth recommendations. You can also participate in related forums or comment on blog posts in order to plug your company without coming off as too promotional.
9. Social media
Similar to email marketing, social media helps you communicate with your potential customers and encourage them to buy. Again, you should provide compelling reasons to “like” your Facebook page or follow you on Twitter, but you should also share content that gets them visiting your blog or interacting with your brand on a regular basis to remind them why they stopped by your website in the first place. Social media is also a great tool for word of mouth marketing; it helps you see what people are talking about and what recommendations they provide. It’s also a great tool for customer service inquiries and real-time communication when a crisis hits.
10. PR
Building your reputation and influence is an important part of driving traffic to your company website. Through public relations strategies, you can brand yourself as an expert in your niche and build your credibility. Doing this can increase your conversion rates and build your brand awareness. For instance, by serving as a source in journalist’s articles, the outlet typically provides a linkback to your website -- which is usually great traffic that converts well, all while building your reputation. Plus, when you’re mentioned on a big press outlet -- a trusted source for many people -- they ultimately trust you more. Press releases can also help drive traffic and generate interest in your product or service.
So you launched a new website - congrats! Maybe you even installed google analytics. You check back to see all this new traffic and all you get is:

Focus on intent and qualified traffic by leveraging search and social media advertising to drive bottom of the funnel traffic while data-driven display advertising powers the top. All advertising is not created equal so you’ll need to build a media mix to bring in a blend of visitors at various stages to make your site effective at achieving conversion goals.
(bonus - read my answer to: How can I boost conversions of visitors on my website?)
Use content marketing for SEO
About 1 in 3 people searching will actually click on an ad. So with an acquisition strategy in place, we’ve got 1/3 of our opportunity taken care of. What about the rest of it?
That’s where SEO comes in. I’m talking about the white hat, Olivia Pope, good guy kind of SEO. None of this keyword cramming, weird linking, promises of page one results overnight junk.
The kind that matters to search engines and your visitors comes in the form of creating value, answering questions and being an expert resource. That only comes from turning into a content publisher.
Get social
Find out where your target audiences are hanging out socially. Engage in conversations there. Don’t just link drop - come on now - you’re better then that. Create value, share thoughts, add ideas and develop your brand.
Build loyalty
Give people a reason to engage with you and get updates from you. Someone found you - awesome! Now incent them with free content upgrades, cookies (seriously, actually saw a small bakery do this.) whatever it takes just get them to engage so you can communicate with them again in the future.
Good luck!

Guest blogging is great to increase your presence within your niche, grow your backlink profile and make some connections in the industry–all of which are instrumental to promote your website in the long run.
How it works in a nutshell: you write for other blogs.
When you write for prominent sites in your niche, you’re putting your content in prime places to reach the right people–namely, those who are interested in your topic and who will enjoy your content enough to look for more of it. Translation: more traffic for your website!
#3. Create a free resource
This strategy is all about creating valuable, unique content – ideally centered around your brand or product – then offering free access to it.

In general, you want to publish content on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter with a link back to your page. Make sure your posts are as entertaining, informative or (situationally) as provocative as possible to garner shares and retweets.
Another tip: Look into Open Graph tags or Twitter Cards to make sure your shares look their best. Used in tandem with good featured images, this can really help to boost your click-throughs.

If you feel your AdWords campaign isn’t working, change the ad copy, ad size, or other factors. The same applies to your blog articles. Play around with the content type, length, and posting frequency until you find a working formula.
With that in mind, let’s look at the four most impactful adjustments you can make to your digital marketing campaign for accelerated growth.

Methods to Improve Your Digital Marketing Strategy
One of the key advantages of digital marketing is you can track, measure, and tweak your campaigns immediately.
1 Focus on Mobile
In 2020 mobile overtook PC as the preferred device for internet access. Currently, more than 70% of consumers prefer mobile, and nearly 30% use mobile only to access the internet. If you ignore mobile marketing, you’re ignoring a huge chunk of your potential customers.
To take advantage of the huge and ever-growing mobile market; make your site mobile responsive, create mobile-friendly content with AMP (accelerated mobile pages), get local with Google My Business, and consider text message marketing.
2 Make Engagement Easy
Marketing Week recently conducted a study to find if people understand the meaning and purpose of engagement in marketing. The results weren’t shocking; up to 25% of respondents didn’t even know the business definition of engagement. About 38.5% knew the definition but didn’t take the metric seriously.
It’s important to understand and appreciate engagement as a marketing metric. Focus on ways to make engagement easy. Options to consider including are making your Calls to Action (CTAs) easy to find, integrating social media into your website with social buttons and social login, providing a comment section for feedback, using email to remain in touch, and chatting with your community on social media, chat tools, and online public forums/blogs.
3 Use Designated Landing Pages
According to Marketing Sherpa, a whopping 44% of B2B clicks are directed to home pages, with an even bigger number for B2C. You’re missing out big time if you’re in this category. For maximum conversions, you need specialized landing pages for your campaigns. Why? Because landing pages are designed for lead generation and your homepage isn’t. Landing pages are easier to navigate, have fewer distractions, and don’t require scrolling like home pages.
Bottom line: Ensure that each campaign has its own landing page.
4 Test, Monitor, and Test Again
Like everything else in life, no marketing campaign is perfect. It doesn’t matter if you’re converting 50% of your leads; with a few improvements, you could hit 60%. This makes testing very important. Testing allows you to determine what’s working and what isn’t. It can be useful in predicting future trends which helps you stay ahead of the competition.
Test often, consider split testing every marketing campaign, use social media to test and always focus on your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Why Work at SEO for Your Website?
A recent study by Conductor shows that 64% of all web traffic comes from organic searches. An organic search is where a user naturally discovers a product or service provider on a search engine without undue commercial influence. SEO is the key to a flourishing organic search campaign.
SEO Tips to boost marketing of your website
1 Invest in Keyword Research
Keywords are a vital cog in any SEO strategy. According to a recent Quick Sprout article, they make up 15.04% of Google’s search algorithm, meaning that professional keyword research could be the difference between a first-page ranking and total oblivion.
To get the most from your keyword campaign, invest in professional keyword research. Keep in mind you also need to know your negative keywords. Rather than settle for “global” keywords, use keyword search tools to discover the best-performing keywords in your industry. These tools will even help you uncover the keywords your competitors are using.
Tools: Ahrefs, Ubersuggest
2 Provide Great Content
With keyword search done, the next step is to create great content. Great content is unique, provides value to the reader, and is free of grammatical and other mistakes. The content should also be provided in the right form, at the right time, and via the right channels.
Begin by finding great topic ideas. You can find plenty of ideas on platforms such as Tumblr and Quora. Think about questions you are asked by customers or potential customers. Answer the questions! Be the resource and share testimonials, how-tos, and more. Once you have topic ideas, find an exceptional writer or content marketing company to create the necessary articles. Then, publish on your website blog, other social websites (LinkedIn Publisher), and potentially Medium. For maximum reach, promote 600-1000 word blog post content via email and social networks. On average, to be really pursuing great SEO, you need 4 blog posts a month (or 1 per week).
3 Optimize Meta Titles and Descriptions
To make your content easier to find, not only for readers but also search engines, optimize all meta titles and descriptions. A Meta title is the bold blue header in search result pages that users click to visit your site. A meta description is a short sentence (or two) that appears right below the link to your site in SERPs.
For purposes of SEO, all meta headers should be short (50 to 60 characters), punchy, and to the point. Your headers must also include your keyword(s). The meta description should be a 50 to 300-characters long (including spaces) summary of the content and must also include your keywords.
4 Optimize Post Headings and Sub-Headings
Headings and subheadings are vital to your articles. The object of headings is to allow the reader to scan the article and read the section that catches their eye. In your article, your headings should look reflect the article outline.
Headings are wrapped in heading tags, H1, H2, H3 through H6. Google cares the most about H1 through H3. Heading 1 is used in your page or post title so no need to add it to the actual content. H2 and H3 should be used in a hierarchy fashion with H2’s above H3’s. For example in this eBook, the title, Top 10 SEO Tips for Your Website, uses H1 tags. H2 tags are used by the subheading, What Makes SEO a Decisive Digital Marketing Tool? And Limited Number of Businesses that pursue SEO uses H3 tags.
Be sure to use all 3 headings in your article and include keywords in your headings as much as possible.
5 Optimize All Images and Videos
Plain content no longer works. To attract maximum attention, you need to sprinkle your words with relevant images and videos. Don’t forget to optimize all your images and videos for maximum search visibility to boost your SERP ranking.
The simplest way to optimize images and videos is by modifying their names and ALT tags. Begin by providing a name for each image and video. Then, make sure that your keyword is present in the names. And lastly, in the Alternative Text (ALT Text) section, provide a short description of the image.
6 Take Link Building Seriously
You might not believe this, but links are a top-three ranking factor for Google and other major search engines. A 2018 Quick Sprout study shows that your link-building efforts have a 20.26% impact on where you end up in SERP rankings.
We recommend that you use internal linking to increase the visibility of your not-so-popular pages. Then, invest in outreach programs such as guest posting to earn quality links. Other ways to get worthy links include; fixing your broken links, and answering questions on social networks/forums, with backlinks to your website. Link building doesn’t need to be a time-consuming method; there are link-building services like these that can make it an easier process. Link building is big business and it should be one crucial strand to your bow when it comes to ranking on Google. By using link-building services that provide quality links, bolsters your content further.
7 Work on Your Page Load Times
It’s baffling that some business owners still ignore page load times. Studies show that 40% of visitors abandon searches after just 3 seconds. An additional one-second delay, from 3 seconds to 4 seconds, takes the figure to 60%. It gets worse after they leave, 80% of visitors never return! Don’t let page speed affect your business.
To improve your site speed, start by finding out your current page load speeds using a tool such as Pingdom. Then, get rid of elements that might slow your speeds. Also, compress your images and, if need be, switch to a hosting provider with faster speeds.
8 Boost SEO with Social Media
Yes, you can use social media to boost your SEO. The Search Engine Journal has done an extensive article on this, explaining how actively posting and conversing on the likes of Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram can actually help your SEO. In a nutshell, these activities can help with link building, audience building, and branded searches.
To use social media to boost your website ranking, Forbes recommends driving traffic to the site by placing a lot of inbound links in your social media posts and optimizing the posts for searches. Also, encourage social sharing by placing social network links on your website/blog. Want more detail on this? Take a look at ordering my book.
9 Work on Technical SEO Elements
Technical SEO covers a lot, but you need to focus on four elements: HTTPS migration, 301 Redirects, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), and sitemap submission.
Google and other major search companies currently favor HTTPS over HTTP, making migration to HTTPS a must. Permanent 301 Redirects automatically send visitors to new pages, completely ignoring old pages. This prevents issues like duplicate content and poor user experience. CDNs accelerate content delivery thus boosting user experience. And, sitemap submission gives better site visibility to search engines for faster indexing. Faster indexing can positively impact SERP ranking.
10 Measure and Analyze
Finally, and most importantly, never forget to measure and analyze your SEO campaign. Measurement will help you determine whether you’re on track and what you could do to further improve your growth.
For SEO, the key metrics to measure include; link quality and quantity, traffic sources and quality, time spent on a page, bounce rate, Click-Through Rate (CTR), top exit pages, and Domain Authority (DA).
Take a comprehensive approach to your site promotion.
- Content - value added content that addresses the felt needs of your audience. Blogging, articles and forums are great places for this.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) might sound like a snooze-fest, but trust me, it's your best friend in the online jungle.
Optimize your website's content with relevant keywords, meta descriptions, and alt tags.
Google loves to play matchmaker between users and websites, and with a little SEO magic, you'll be their favorite date.
Blogging isn't just for wannabe influencers and foodies documenting their avocado toast adventures.
It's also a killer way to drive traffic to your website.
Write engaging, informative posts that address your target audience's burning questions and pain points.
Not only will you establish yourself as an expert in your field, but you'll also attract visitors like bees to honey.
Email marketing might sound old-school, but it's still one of the most effective ways to promote your website.
Build an email list of subscribers who actually want to hear from you (no spamming, please).
Send out regular newsletters with valuable content, promotions, and updates.
Just remember, nobody likes a clingy ex, so don't bombard their inboxes every day.
In the cutthroat world of online business, it's easy to see other websites as enemies in the battle for internet supremacy.
But why compete when you can collaborate?
Reach out to influencers, bloggers, and businesses in your niche for partnerships, guest posts, and cross-promotion.
Remember, there's strength in numbers, and together, you'll conquer the digital landscape like a boss.
In the age of social media influencers and sponsored content, it's easy to forget the humble power of word-of-mouth marketing.
Encourage satisfied customers to spread the word about your website to their friends, family, and colleagues.
Offer referral discounts or incentives to sweeten the deal.
After all, nothing beats a glowing recommendation from someone you trust.
Last but not least, don't forget to track your website's performance and make adjustments accordingly.
Use tools like Google Analytics to monitor your traffic, engagement, and conversion rates.
Pay attention to what's working (and what's not) and tweak your strategies accordingly.
Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither is a successful website.
In conclusion, promoting a website is like planting a garden.
It takes time, patience, and a little bit of elbow grease.
But with the right tools and strategies, you'll watch your website bloom and flourish before your very eyes.

There are several ways in which you can promote your business, using a budget or for free.
If you have a budget then you should consider Facebook Ads/Twitter Ads as well as using PPC (Pay Per Click). You can use ads on LinkedIn, however they can be quite expensive and it depends on what you’re advertising - it’s good if you’re marketing a B2B service, but little else.
If you’re looking for a free option then using social media is a must. I would recommend using Google+ and Google My Business, alongside Twitter and/or Facebook.

Google+ works sneakily in that Google searches favour content you have shared on Google+ (as you’re using the same company, Google). Posts on Google+ also index far quicker than any web page ever normally would - so it’s good for indexing new pages on your site.
Also make sure to talk! Not enough businesses actually talk to prospective clients publically (or at all). Don’t be that guy publishing loads of content, but not interacting with a single soul along the way.
Making relationships is key, both offline and online.

The competition is open to everyone, based on the quality of the content you publish, the fluidity of the navigation you offer to your visitors, and the number of links you receive from the outside. SEO can be done through on page optimization where you optimize key word search, page title, header page, long tail key words, image optimization page load time & so on. At the other hand off page optimization is getting links from high domain websites which get qualify traffic to your webpage. traffic coming from quality content shared on social media platforms, traffic coming from the links shared by market influencer & so on.
Optimising Email Marketing: This is one of the most cost effective tools & provide better ROI compare to any paid marketing services. With personalise mail & quality content & correct call to action button you can bring good amount of traffic to your web page.
Blogging: Having a blog on your website can increase your ranking on search engines, help establish yourself as an expert in your field, and dramatically improve your conversion rate. writing articles will force you to research your market, and in turn broaden your knowledge and grow your professional skills.
Influencer Marketing: In addition to starting your own blog, you may want to bring in a guest blogger. This is a popular tactic that is mutually beneficial for both parties involved. Having another writer in your industry write a post on your own blog allows you to dive into the person’s network and hopefully get some quality leads. Not only that, you’re building relationships along the way with people in your industry therefore growing your own network. You both get exposure, traffic, and social media shares. it’s a win-win for all.
You cannot miss the power of social media: Regularly engaging with your audience can also increase the chances of them sharing your content, which is free promotion for your website. Don’t forget to cross-promote so all of your networks get to benefit from as much of your content as possible, like sharing your Instagram video to Twitter or your latest blog post on your Facebook page.
Submit your site to online directories : While a majority of people will be searching Google to find what they’re looking for, submitting your website to online directories is still a good idea. You want your URL in as many places as you can get it so that more people can find it. So why not take advantage of this free advertising space? Depending on the industry you work in, there may be a dedicated directory for your business type. If you have a brick and mortar store, submitting to local directories is even smarter.
Post on Forums : Forums are another way of getting your website out to another crowd that may not normally run across it. You can start a new thread on a well known forum like Reddit and Quora and let others decide if it’s worthy of getting upvoted, or you can engage in an existing conversation thread that is on-topic and throw in your website when appropriate. (Please, don’t spam. It’s just plain rude.) As with the directories above, try to find forums that are specifically about your businesses’ industry so that you can reach your specific audience in a more intimate way.
Reply with your Digital signature : Your email signature is basically an online bumper sticker, in that people are going to see it whether they care to or not. This, however, can very much be a good thing for you and your website. Make sure that at the bottom of any email that you send out (regardless to who) you place your Logo. links to your social accounts and website, plus any other contact information.
Reach out with outreach marketing : Outreach marketing involves connecting with others in your business category, bloggers and influencers to promote your website in some way, shape or form. The technique starts with identifying the targets you need in order to attain your goal. This involves reaching out with a pitch, and following up when necessary. This can be done via email or social media, and depending on your targets’ following, one may be better than the other.
With effective implementation of this marketing tools one can get very good response to promote there website effectively & generate qualify traffic for there web page.

If you’re a B2C product company, you might find great traction with image-heavy social sites like Pinterest and Instagram. Here's more advice on making the most of social media marketing.
SEO
One absolutely key way to increase website traffic is to harness the power of SEO. I recommend putting this at the top of your To Do List if you’re serious about marketing your website.
I’ll start with a very quick explanation of SEO, in case you’re not familiar with it. Again, this isn’t the place for a full course on SEO – that would take days. But with a few basics in mind you can do much to help drive traffic to your website.
SEO stands for search engine optimization. At its core, it is a way of making your website more visible to search engines like Google, Bing, Baidu, DuckDuckGo and so forth. The idea is to use words and phrases that people search for frequently and that are relevant to your website.
While search engine marketing involves paying for traffic to your website, search engine optimization is free. You will need a keyword tool to find the best terms to use in your copy. Powerful tools such as Google Keyword Planner and Ubersuggest are available for free, meaning you can start your adventures with SEO immediately and at no cost.
I should add a quick waning here. Be careful not to over-optimize your website. Your main priority should be to provide quality content, with a sprinkling of SEO to help out
Start a Podcast
Last year, over 100 million Americans listened to at least one podcast per month. That’s a lot of ears that can also be converted to website clicks.
Regularly send e-mails and newsletters to your potential customers
Yes, that’s true- regular mails are a good way to promote a website. So start sending e-mails and newsletters of your company to lists of your current and prospective customers.
Just be careful that your customers/prospects should opt-in for your mails and you should not spam them.
Optimize Your Content
Start with good product content, even if you sell a mass-market product. Optimize your headlines, create good short descriptions, include specifications, and offer alternate images. Make sure you provide accurate product UPCs and part numbers.

Optimize your data feed to ensure you include all required fields for each marketplace. Ensure your pricing and shipping settings are accurate.
Provide Superb Customer Service
Most marketplaces correspond with the customers directly. In that sense, they control the customer relationship, not you. Maintaining a top customer ranking is absolutely crucial to your success. Ensure that you set and meet the expectations for shipping. Honor the marketplaces’ refund and exchange policies with no questions asked. If you receive a customer inquiry, respond within hours, not days.
Amazon and eBay, for example, do not tolerate a lag in responding to a customer inquiry. Make sure to monitor your customer service emails throughout the weekend. If you receive an inquiry late on a Friday night and don’t respond until Monday morning, you are deemed late by Amazon and will be put on notice.
Boost Your Visibility through Advertising
For lesser-known marketplaces, there is Google Product Listing Ad — in the search results or in category pages. It is a pay-per-click model that links the ad to your listing within that marketplace. The network provides analytics to allow you to measure your return on ad spend.
Given the volume of product listings, this ad network seems to offer good opportunities to increase your product’s visibility and boost your revenue.
Pricing
The prices within marketplaces have never been more dynamic. For nearly all mass-market items, you can count on prices changing throughout the day. Ensure that your price is either the lowest or close to the lowest to get in the “Buy Box” on Amazon. To accomplish that, consider using price-monitoring tools.
These solutions allow you to monitor the pricing of products on competitors’ sites, as well as within marketplaces. Many will also support dynamic re-pricing based on rules that you establish. To use dynamic pricing, however, make sure you understand your margins and have well-designed strategies for bid management. You can get into trouble with inventory or profits quickly if you do not execute re-pricing well.
Choose the Right Products
Make sure you are selling products that match the buyers in the marketplace. Ensure that your margins will support the prices and shipping expense of selling those products.
It may not be wise, for example, to list all of your products in a marketplace. ...

One of the most trusted voice today is the voice of influencers. Influencers are not only popular individuals. They are experts in their specific fields. They have a high reach and engagement. And they can help you promote your website. How? One of the easiest way is by guest blogging.
You can ask influencers to be a guest blogger on your website. Or you can try to guest blog on their website too. For example, I’ll search for the best sales influencers today as a guest blogger on our website. I'll connect with the influencer by sending a formal email or by engaging in social media. If the influencer approves, then the collaboration will begin.
Don’t hesitate to try different approaches.
Mix things up!

2. Email Marketing:
A well-written and effective newsletter would garner more customers. Keeping the content precise and crisp to make an impact on the reader, you can send promotional emails to your customers and increase your user base.
3. Blogging:
Having your own blog is a good inbound marketing exercise. Blogs on websites help in increasing the web traffic and in turn, increases the ranking of your websites.

Everyone is on some social media platform or other, so it would make sense to promote your website on them. Businesses often use social media as a tool to fuel brand awareness and growth.
5. Posting on forums:
Forums are a great way to attract a crowd for your website that would normally not be able to know about your business.
Apart from these, you can follow more steps like marketing outreach, inviting guest bloggers, submitting a site for online directories, target referral traffic, using schema microdata, ensuring your site is fast, examine analytics data, and other things. If you follow these steps diligently, you can ensure that your website reaches out to as many customers as possible. You can also contact a digital marketing agency like LeadMuster for a better way to deal with these problems.

One of the biggest problems in copywriting, whether it be articles, blog posts, and back-links is that the promoter or person hired to promote, only ever links back to the main home page. This is definitely a big NO NO because the home page of any site is NOT the most important one. The most important pages are the one promoting different products. You should be making back-links for some of the internal product pages of your site.
These are just some of the different ways of promoting your web site. If you site is good enough and has excellent content and promotes a good visitor experience all these ways are worthy of doing and sticking with it. It WILL pay off in the end, if you have the patience.
