In my opinion, an interior step would be to bring all sports bodies under the control of the Government of India. The Supreme Court in Zee Telefims case held by a 3:2 majority that BCCI is not a State. In my opinion, an interior step would be to bring all sports bodies under the control of the Government of India. Despite various attempts, the Government has failed to bring privately running sports bodies which represent the country at an international level under its ambit. The Supreme Court in Zee Telefims case held by a 3:2 majority that BCCI is not a State. The rampant corruption, nepotism and favouritism has posed enough questions on the functioning of these sports bodies autonomously. There are several other advantages of taking this step, I am going to list a few here:
- This would not only bring in more revenues for the government but will also ensure that it is equally distributed among all sports.
- Talented athletes who are lost in the streets due to poverty will now have a platform and resources to prove themselves.
- 'Other' sports will get the importance they have always deserved. The potential in other sports is gradually coming out in the fields.
- The government will be answerable for any discrepancy in the money involved, thereby curbing corruption and involvement of black money.
There are other reasons but these are the few off the top of my head. It may also curb sports betting or regulate it better. The unregulated betting industry causes huge revenue losses amounting in tens of crores.
These sports bodies should then be headed by retired sports persons from whom we can expect a level of respect for the game and the corrupt practices (favouritism, nepotism) in sports can be curbed by them.
Where do I start?
I’m a huge financial nerd, and have spent an embarrassing amount of time talking to people about their money habits.
Here are the biggest mistakes people are making and how to fix them:
Not having a separate high interest savings account
Having a separate account allows you to see the results of all your hard work and keep your money separate so you're less tempted to spend it.
Plus with rates above 5.00%, the interest you can earn compared to most banks really adds up.

There are a number of ways in which the show is actually helping:
1. Answering questions which people don't even know they should be asking. e.g. How to tell your children to protect themselves from child molesters? What are the rights of a woman in a patriarchal society? Where to find cheap, but effective medicines? What to do when your pati-parmeshvar just keeps hitting you again and again and again?
In short, what a person can do to avoid victimhood and what a victim can do to get help. This is as concrete as you can get.

2. Bringing awareness to EVERYONE ELSE other than the perpetrators. I agree that any person doing wrong is rather unlikely to have a change of heart because of a TV show.
However, there are many good people out there who want to help, but don't know how to. In fact, there are many good people who would help, but they don't even know that a grave problem exists.
At the very least, these good people can donate their money. If some are touched even more deeply, they might join the helping organisations and do more good.
3. Showing an alternative to potential perpetrators, who might be forced to do wrong because of their conditions. e.g. The whole issue of medical malpractices. One big cause is doctors who pass out from private colleges are deeply in debt of many lakhs of rupees. There was an example which showed them that they could stay and practice in India without robbing their patients.
Finally, I think the mere fact of talking about an issue openly helps. If we pretend that an issue simply does not exist or does not exist at least for our near and loved ones, then we do nothing about it. Child molestation is a big example. If these things are discussed openly then we are one step closer, as society, to find some solutions.
Identifying and accepting that a problem exists is the first step in solving a problem. When you educate the masses about the common problems, they have a deeper understanding of the problem and try to do their part in solving the same. Suppose the show talks about the water crisis or shortage of electricity, the next time you use either one of them you'll be subconsciously thinking about it and in turn try to use them frugally. The next time you see someone being careless in using it you'll educate him not to do so. Doesn't this qualify as a solution?

This is what I came across on Facebook a few days back.
I guess this program is just a sham. He has an image of being an "intelligent" actor. Thus maybe normal game shows wouldn't be the way to make money and he chose this way :P

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance
You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.
Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.
If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.
Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.
2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven
A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.
If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.
On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.
3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10
Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.
An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.
With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.
Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.
So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.
This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.
4. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous
The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.
Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.
Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.
When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.
It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.
5. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account
If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).
But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.
Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).
You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).
It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

5. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company
If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.
If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.
The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.
It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.
6. Lock In Affordable Term Life Insurance in Minutes.

Quick background: Satyamev Jayate is an Indian television show which brings in problems/taboos existing in the society and by bringing in expert opinion as well as first hand account of people who have gone through troubling phases.
I had a debate on this with a friend of mine on this topic, as to what makes this show so popular.
* The Title - Satyamev Jayate
It is a patriotic title which literally translates to -
Truth Alone Prevails.
For a show which tries to bring out the social prejudices, taboos and controversial topics to a wide range of audience, the title is perfect for what the show tries to convey.
* Aamir Khan
Take Aamir out of the show and I really do not see if the show would have the kind of appeal that it has currently.
The actor is a big star in India and is revered by the masses and even the cinema-loving junta likes him.
Take out Aamir and bring in some other guy. The show wouldn't last.
* The Disclaimer
Human brain works in a funny way.
Tell a kid, "You're a kid and kids are not supposed to do that."
This would only increase his curiosity to figure out what is it and why is he not being allowed to do something.
When a disclaimer comes in the show asking people under 18 to take parental guidance because of the sensitive topics discussed, it only increases the curiously. Nothing graphic is being shown on the show, so I am not sure if the disclaimer becomes a legal necessity but even if it is, the presence of the disclaimer makes us wonder what controversial topic would be discussed in the upcoming episode.
* Wide Target Audience
- The show caters to a wide age group, easily from 15 to 75 yr age group
- Includes both men and women
- Transcends geographic differences across the country and appeals equally to a soldier stationed in Kashmir and to a fisherman in Kanyakumari
- Eclipses the cultural/religious differences and appeals to people from different economic strata of society as well.
* The Timing
The show is telecast at 11 am on Sundays. The timing is apt. After breakfast and before lunch. A wide range of target audience would be free on sunday mornings.
Youngsters go out, usually, after lunch. Housewives would have finished the breakfast work and can easily start preparing lunch once the show ends.
The show doesn't have to compete for slots with other prime time shows on weekdays or weekends.
* Special screening for specific audience
This is a good initiative by Star Tv. The show is not meant exclusively for television watching audience.

I urge you all you watch it.
I do. I think every little act of ours will make a difference.
If each and every one of us start following these basic little things like switching off lights when not in use, using more public transport and car pooling and as told, separating wet and dry waste, together we can make a huge difference.

Yes. To an extent I do hope this happens in India. A sportsperson could easily empathise for another and chances of their issues being heard and solved are more.
But that being said I wonder if such moves will always bring neutrality in sports administration.
The main aim of the show is to make aware the people of India what is happening in and around them. The show provides solutions as it shows how the same problem was solved by people in other parts of country. To opt for those solutions is choice. It is only a show, they want to create awareness but it depends upon us how we want to learn from things.

Telling men "don't rape" doesn't help. Men don't rape. Criminals do. And criminals don't care about laws. People say rape is cased by our culture. But US has an entirely opposite culture but more crime rate in terms of rape. Actually, I think the situation is more deep than that. I think humans no longer have kindness in their hearts. They have become vicious. They can no longer feel from the other person's perspective. If there is some way to train people to behave better in this regard, I think it should be taught in our schools. That might help.
The first step to solving a problem is realizing there is one.
It is a bit tricky to say what changes have happened as 'a direct result of the show', since there were people before, after and during the show working on the different social issues highlighted by it. Even if someone started a new initiative after getting inspired from the show, until and unless they come forward and state that explicitly, there is no way to know that it was inspired by the show.
However, there have been a number of cases where the show has gotten direct credit. The Satyamev Jayate team has compiled all those news stories on their website here: Voice Against - Satyamev Jaya

Most of these being based in urban sections are unaware of the problems existing in rural areas and also in developed regions. Here the role of the show comes in. The show, in a very classy way, presented the deep rooted problems, their causes, the misconception adopted by people about these problems & lot more to the great ignorant population of India, to those people of our country who can come up with beautiful initiatives to free this country of all these challenges.
As an example, when asked by a group of city residents about where they feel the problem of female foeticide exist, common opinion was that it is prevalant in rural areas while the real situation is totally reverse.
- Encouraging & Inspiring the mass.
The show, not only highlighted the problems but also in an effort of providing regards & encouragement to the special efforts carried by some individuals or some groups, showed them to a great population. These acts really inspired a lot of people & also showed them the different ways in which they can contribute to the good cause. For example, the act of Babar, a 19 year old boy belonging to a village who after studying in college spends his whole time in teaching the poor & deprived kids & has opened a school for them inspired a great lot of other students.
These two are the main accomplishments of this classy shows. Apart from this, it also sort of enpowered women facing oppression, enpowered the children facing assaults, and also guided the government & other concerned authorities to some great initiatives that need to be taken.
I will tell you what i feel about about Aamir Khan and Satyamev Jayate based on a little research i did.
- Aamir Khan takes 4 crores for a episode in Satyamev Jayate.
As a artist he can desire and ask for whatever fees he likes but to pretend to be so sympathetic to the cause as if he is doing it for free and he has no axe to grind is wrong.
This show is extremely good for his PR and image and he understands that.
- Secondly, do any of you know that aamir khan has the patent for the word "Satyamev Jayate" which he bought few months after the second season was released and before our stupid gov

He has the right to claim to the government to stop the use of this word in government buildings and monuments!
He can ask for money if you use this word without his permission and he can even sue you.
But he is not going to do that, is he!
He is smarter than that.
Well played Aamir well played.
I like him as an actor and a businessman but i don't think of him as perfectionist and a social reformer.
He is doing a good work but mind it he is getting handsomely paid for that!
Aamir also has a history of taking credit for things he never did.
For example take the case of the movie Taree Zameen Par.
This movie was supposed to be directed by Amole Gupte.
But on the last day Aamir decided this was going to be his Directorial debut. Well who doesn't like a good Samaritan who makes child movies.
Amole Gupte got the credit for writing and screenplay.
Amole Gupte went ahead to make Stanley ka Dabba.
An excellent children movie.
Please do watch it if not done already.
Then there was this fiasco with Chetan Bhagat when Aamir said the movie 3 Idiots is loosely based on 5 Points someone when i thought the entire book has been made into the script with just the change in names and that utterly ridiculous pregnancy delivery scene at the end.
Well i am done with my ranting and again, I like Aamir for his acting and he acts in good movies he doesn't make good movies :)
Satyamev Jayate has indeed caught the fancy of the Indian Middle class. Like Anna Hazare last year, Aamir Khan has emerged as the new icon for resurgent Indian. Its not SMJ which is helping Aamir, but Aamir which is helping SMJ.
Aamir Khan is known to be a thinking actor and has in the past lent his voice to social issues like Narmada Bachao Andolan. Also, he is the face of Indian Tourism. His presence has helped SMJ get a lot of popularity. Shows like SMJ have existed for years now on Indian TV. eg Zindagi Live, We The People, Citizen Journalist. Aamir's celeb touch makes SMJ stand out.

At Simplify360, a leading social media analytics and management company, we monitored the reaction SMJ got on social media. And our reports prove that the show is a HUGE HIT among the masses. And the report shows quite contrasting figures with and without Aamir.

Don't know about this episode, but in the US we already separate garbage and reusable items.
It is very highly possible that India will change its thinking towards sport as from today's highly aware world the show is gathereing a lot of attention and this will cause some change in the mindset of the populus.
The bad side of the arguement is thta the very orthodox people will not change and it is not the fault of the show but it the fault of thier mindset which will not change even with a brilliant effort like the one made on the show.
The show on the otherhand has to be greatly commended on the way it potrays the issues and how they solve them. Aamir Khan is eally doing a wonderful job.

Why do people think that only because a CELEBRITY earns a lot from other things, so they shouldnt charge for doing a show like Satyamev Jayate. I m sure, as everyone will agree that Aamir is known as a Perfectionist, he certainly gives his heart and soul. Atlast, he is here to earn money, so wats wrong in charging.
The ISSUES highlighted are IMPORTANT. Lets concentrate on it.
I m a fan of Salman Khan, as per NEWS, he charges about 7crores per episode on Big Boss.
Come on. Y should Aamir Khan do it for free. I m sure he has a family to take care of.
Definitely yes. Changes don't happen dramatically. The first phase of change is always awareness. Amir khan has used his popularity and influence to bring about a tremendous awareness among the citizens. This would have a cascading affect and reap results in years to come. Kudos to Amir.
awareness and mind change setup somewhat will it bring its mere a show and not a revolution that ol of a sudden change will come it just a show to make people aware of the ill effects of the society of those issues which no one wanna talk and just ignore satyamev jayate a gud start and i appreciate the efforts of aam ir khan
To change or not to change is every indivisual Indians personal choice... Satyamev Jayate may not want to change you but they definitely want to make us more aware about the facts and ground realities. Now this is our call whether we change ourselves and our surroundings. And i think all sensible people want to make things better around themselves.
So its not about India its about us Indians.
Awareness definitely helps to bring out a change though its not sufficient. I think this series at least tries to take first step by bringing awareness for a positive change. The TRP it received also resulted in gaining some hope and confidence that considerable amount of people are still willing to make this world a better place. One change I see is more number of serials with some positive message now a days. It may not be totally due to Satyameva Jayate but I think it has certainly encouraged some of these.
I have changed my thinking towards Sports after watching today's Satyamev Jayate Episode.
And Yes I am Part of INDIA :)
Satyamev jayate is a show that focuses on sensitive social issues prevalent in India such and aims to bring the great achievements of people which often go unnoticeable in order to encourage the audience to achieve their goals no matter what comes in between. It also aims to empower citizens with information about their country, and urge them to take action. The show is about meeting the common man of India, connecting with India and its people. Through this show we understand the problem of the people.

Aamir khan is a bollywood actor. Uday Shankar, CEO of STAR India, suggested Aamir Khan to venture into television that has been marked as his debut now .However, he was hesitant at first but agreed and worked upon the concept of the show for two years. He can come up with concepts and ideas and can put in heart and soul to make it a success. This doesnt mean we start expecting him to be the change we want to see.
Why should we expect him to get into sensitive issues in a country ? Expect him to file petitions and get the change implemented. It doesnt work like that in a country like India. The prime minister needs more a minimum of 5 years to bring this change. But awareness ? Were you aware of people's work, what they do for a social cause, what has been implemented by whom and where and what is happening in this country ?
If it wasn't Aamir Khan, I wouldnt have even heard it out ! But today i Look forward and admire everyone and every single data point he brings to light when it comes to the happenings in India. I salute him and his team for the enormous research and time spent for that 1 hour show.
He is not here to make a change. He is no one and in no position to change anything. It is important to understand a problem. One may not have the solution, but at least One can hear and understand. Thats what the show is about. He is here to promote something and with his stature people are willing to listen to him.
So he is worth every penny he is being paid. How much and all is none of our concern. The production team has to decide. He has better things to do in life. lets not forget that.Lets start appreciating everything people do and the effort they put in.
Bollywood actors have to be paid. They are not here for charity.
Yes for sure it is changing India. No matter how much we want to change the society and the issues in our country. The first step always is to know about the problem and how it is affecting at a larger level.
Most of the Indians although know the problems in our society but wouldn't dare to do a single effort to change the situation.
I myself have seen the change for instance people now a days are keeping a check on cleaning the surroundings. Yes it will take time but it will work for sure.
While it's difficult to precisely answer, what changes have been affected in India, a look at satyamevjayate.in - Kings Every Day pretty much says, a lot has been happening. Whether people are changing or no, is difficult to asses. The show does seem to have had an impact, nevertheless
It does fry some big fish at times. I see this as an essential manifestation of the fourth pillar of governance.
"Satyamev Jayate" is a phrase in Sanskrit, and it is the national motto of India. It is derived from the ancient Indian scripture, the Mundaka Upanishad. The phrase translates to "Truth Alone Triumphs" in English. It reflects the importance of truth and righteousness in all aspects of life and emphasizes the enduring power and victory of truth. "Satyamev Jayate" is also inscribed at the base of the national emblem of India.
I believe it has had hardly any impact except that some NGOs featured in the show have gained some recognition.
The show indeed had a large viewership, and touched some of the genuine problems of our society. But as soon as the show ended, viewers forgot about the issues and moved on as before. In my opinion, the show could not have much impact because of its (successful) attempt to be "politically neutral".
One single reality show is not enough to take on Indian Government..but yes Our Government will surely use the social issues as a publicity stunts to make more fake promises and gather votes for the next election.

If we go by what Aamir Khan says, only actors and politicians have the right to live decently, have all the money the want and have the right to live in luxury everyone else if found making money is corrupt as if we all are at the bottom of food chain. This guy is so fake he should be banned all over the world.
