Right, Facebook does not support auto-reply, but you can change the way you think.

So basically, you need a software to react to the incoming messages, then reply to certain messages you can always use a software to do that for you. For example, you can set it up to fetch this message”Hello” then custom your message to respond to it.

Sounds confusing, Check out JarveePro.

Thank you for your question.

You can set up an auto-response in Facebook telling people to contact you by email.

Go to your settings and messaging.

You can use Response Assistant. Switch to “Yes”

Type your message with the email you want people to contact you using the tag for their first name. A preview will show.

You can also use the “Send Instant Replies,” which basically does the same thing.

I hope this helps.

Actually the service you are talking about is only for Verified Profiles and Pages for now. For Normal Profiles it is not available yet. You will have to reach Messenger to reply to the messages.

And even if you have a Verified profile and enabled auto reply, if they don't want to Email you, then its a fail.

Facebook does not support auto-reply. You're just going to have to inform your correspondents one at a time to send future correspondence via e-mail. (Copy and paste probably would work if you need it.) You can, however, have your FB messages forwarded to your regular e-mail. At one time you could also reply to the messages by replying to the e-mail but that feature seems to have been abolished (sometime between 2013 and 2015). So instead you used to be able to hit “reply” to a forwarded FB message, and substitute the person's regular e-mail for the “no-reply” FB address before you hit send.

Edit: As of 2017 or so, Facebook Page admins now have the ability to set up auto-reply for messages sent to the Pages. (Of course, unless you actually use the Page message functionality to reply to the querents, you’ll get dinged as not usually replying quickly to inquiries, but I suppose for someone who really preferred e-mail, that wouldn’t matter so much.) Still can’t do it for personal pages/Messenger though.

FaceBook Pages now (2016) have an inbuilt option for auto-reply to the page's messages: Settings/ Messaging/ Instant Replies

I believe it can be set only in the desktop version of FB and the message is limited to 250 characters.

There's no way to accomplish what you're trying to do. Facebook can't monetize messaging if you're pulling content out of their ecosystem.

Setting up email notifications when it comes to messenger is no different than a email notifications for people "liking" or "commenting on a photo. All your receiving is an alert that something happened. There is no info in that alert so there is nothing to reply to.

Currently, Facebook doesn't have an auto reply feature. However, since the platform has an open API, you might be able to write a script that handles this requirement

No. Not fom your profile. You can do it from your page.

Profile are meant for connecting with friends where you don't and should nt have the option to direct people again. Page is for fans.

In the about section or describe who you are you can write it there your email or in the cover photo you can write there to send anything at your email.

Sorry, there's no way to do that. If the notifications address accepted replies, does that solve this?

Sounds like a fine idea to me. It might feel a little too corporate for the general Facebook service, but for the now-being-piloted Facebook at Work, it seems obvious.

I don't know the current engineering/product crews well enough to have any insight on why this isn't available, though. See if Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo will take a shot at it. (He was Facebook's CTO and vp engineering, back in the early days.)

They feel awkward about it. They cannot decide what is the best way to answer it. And they wonder if they do answer it, will the mere act of answering it imply something that they did not intend such as making it appear that they are more intimate with you then how they actually feel just by the fact that they answered regardless of what their answer was.

Actually, Instagram doesn’t have the feature to auto-reply to the DMs.

But, there is a feature that can help you out with in managing DMs from your customers.

METHOD 1 - (Free)

The feature is called Saved Reply feature. And it is the official Instagram feature for alternative to the auto-reply feature on Instagram.

With this feature, one can reply to the commonly asked question very quickly.

METHOD 2 - (Paid)

If you are running a business and in dire need to add an auto-reply system. You can go with the paid tool called SLIDE.

You can setup auto-replies to specific keywords using Slide.

If someone doesn’t respond I just assume they’re not interested in talking to me and I usually stop engaging with those people. It’s not a big deal. There are plenty of people I am not interested in having extended conversations with either.

If it’s someone I talk to regularly, I just assume they’ve gotten busy with work/kids/life and don’t take it personally.

Profile photo for Eri Drekaj

It depends on them.
Personally, I answer. I do always answer as it never happens for someone to write me without a reason. And if someone wrote me and had no reason, I would still say "hi".

Unfortunately, Facebook Messenger auto replies can only be set up for Facebook Pages and not for personal accounts. If you want to use Messenger auto replies for your personal brand or blog, you could create a Facebook page for yourself and use it as a platform to engage with your followers and fans. But keep in mind that Facebook's rules say that personal accounts can't be used for business or advertising. Not very easily at all.

Sending an email to someone is easy. The hard bit is working out that you haven’t logged in for a few days. That data is generally not exposed via APIs, and the traditional method of getting data which isn’t exposed via API is to impersonate you - which would count as a login and defeat the point.

Some providers like Google do provide login details via API. That’s probably your best option.
