How do you get divx movies to play on your ps3?

firstly you must make sure the movie has no spaces or weird charicters in its name then place it in your ps3 and scroll to movies scroll to usb device and press triangle it will come up with some options press select all and it will show all the videos you have on the usb choose one and press play. and also make sure the movie is not more than 2GB or it will not work.

Last time when i copied .avi files onto ps3 it worked and i could watch them but now the PS3 says when i copy new ones into the PS3 that the dta type is not recognized so what should I do?

Since the last system update the codecs for avi have been removed, so bad luck, nothing you can really do unless you find a way to rollback your firmware to the last version. Well last time i couldn't even play DivX movies, and i needed the codec for it, im not sure if you can sdo it for avi., maybe you can? (if not use DivX, its better :P)
