Be sure and do all of your Windows Updates, even if you have to go to windowsupdate.com. It might find your sound card and install drivers for it.

Yup, you need to install soundcard drivers. You can use RadarSync (http://www.radarsync.com/). It's a program that searches and installs driver updates, a bit BETA, but it does the job. (Use only when you have desktop PC.)

start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager> look for a yellow? on the audio if there is one then the driver is missing if you have the CD for audio card then reinstall it or if its onboard audio, place winCD back in and install from there.
