How do I delete all my emails on AIM?

I need to delete about 1600 emails that are pointless and i don't know how. i also don't know how to keep junk mail or spam out of my regular emails. How should i go about this?

Ok, so since I have had my yahoo email account, I have neglected to check my AIM email in over 6 months. I now have about 6000 emails in my inbox. When I go to select "ALL" it tells me there are too many emails and that they wont be deleted...
