Does someone know if you block them on Twitter?

Like this girl is following me but I'm Not following her and I don't want her to be seeing my Tweets and I don't want to just tell her unfollow me so should I block her? Will she know?

I know if you block someone on facebook, they won't know or get a notification that you blocked them but I don't know if that's in the case where they're already friends with you or not. I want to remove and block someone I already added as a friend...
